spark plug caps!

#1 Post by Dalemac » Wed Jan 25, 2012 4:57 pm

Bloody things!

replaced 3/4 of the spark plugs fine, go to do the rear external one and the cap wouldnt budge. I yanked it a bit harder and the cap came off, but left the inner tip on the actual spark plug. The graphite stuff was also chipped away so couldnt guarantee it would provide a good connection.

Its not like i want to ride the thing ever again :(

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Are you sure? I used to think that when I had my Falco (metal type cap?) but my Mille has rubber NGK caps on it so started to think otherwise. Might be worth another look?

Edit - in fact - http://www.jestersmotorcycles.com/maint ... _plugs.htm

I have no idea what the ngk part number would be, and i have to have it by friday.

Only place i could get it guaranteed by friday was my best friends at ultimate parts (slight hint of sarcasm, did you notice?)

I would suggest that spending a day with the official aprilia one with assorted NGK caps may well be a good business move noojella....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

It should say on the side of the rubber boot (mine did anyway).

The shorter front cap is NGK VD05EMH, cheap and accessible in the states, not so much here:

Went to halfords, they didnt hae any.

Searched online, only place i could find which had them in stock in the uk was ultimate parts.

Part number for the internal plug caps is VD05EM.

These are now readily available on eBay ans Amazon for around £8 each.
