indicators only work on alarm arm/disarm?

I think the switch is unlikely as for most indicator switch failures you would still have one side working correctly.

- The flasher relay
The wire from the flasher relay to the indicator switch
The power feed to the flasher relay

Fixed! Spanner monkey ran through the obvious with no luck, then checked the wiring for that branch of the electrical system and found some 'untidy' connections to finesse, ressurecting the horn (which had failed the day after I bought the thing) in the process. However, when I went to start I got the 'fizzt-click!' and a dash reset. Turned the key off and on to a normal dash display and it started. Next port of call : replacement starter relay.
