It's good to hear it has not turned out quite as bad as you feared, but obviously bad for the two who are going.
I suppose it is good that you can now move on and get on with your life again, even if it is with less money.
On my side it has been a bit iffy as my wife, daughter and myself all work in local Authority type jobs.
On my side, I reckon I am safe now, but we have had to accept a pay freeze with no cost of living or increments for 2 and poss 3 years, (just at a time when inflation is highest for years), plus a 1.5 % pay cut and will soon be doubling our superan. payments, but still in work so good news, when hundreds have lost their jobs at the council one way or another.
The wife's job looks like it will probably be safe for now as all the initial job losses did not include her.
Worst situation is Joanne, my daughter, who works for a body that runs youth centres and other stuff in Sheffield, (used to be council, now a charity?).
She does the payroll and banks money, amongst other things, and asked the current administrator/director last week what she could do as they only have enough money left for two months salaries. Sadly this can only be achieved if they do not pay redundancy to all the staff have have just been made redundant this month.
His reply was that this will have to come from reserves, she reminded him that they spent all that last March, (all the original directors resigned on 31st of March, this new bloke was appointed by Sheffield Council to sort out the mess).
He would like her to stay as long as possible to help sort things out, but couldn't find a reply when she suggested that might mean there would not be enough to pay her salary or redundancy money at the end of this time.
So not looking good!
