+1

I borrowed a mates when he was on holiday for commuting into London. He called to see how it was going and asked if I'd scraped the pegs, as I hadn't he double dared me to do it.

I'm still amazed at how much stick that bike took, rev it's nuts off and chuck it on it's ear, got the pegs down no problem.

It's weird; if I ride the Falco a lot and then ride the CB, the CB feels like a moped; if I ride the CB a lot it feels great and then the Falco feels like a super steed :smt007

i know what you mean. i spent a while in cyprus riding around on 250 and 350 cc singles. When i got home the gpz felt like it was being powered by the space shuttle.

Difficult to comment on tyres as everyone rides differently. It's like wine buffs arguing which is best - Shiraz or Merlot ;-)

However :D I've always used Bridgestone (BT020/021 etc) on my Fazers and warily tried the Avons for the first time last year after someone I know suggested I try them. I'd always sworn I'd stick with Bridgestone but the Avon's felt fantastic from the first mile and, IMHO, are even better in the wet than the Bridgestones (go figure!) I'm told they're very popular with couriers and my regular garage commented that they were fitting a lot to big touring bikes.

Horses for courses :D but if anyone tries them and doesn't like 'em I'll buy them part-worn (within reason!) providing they're in "my" size :b)

Having said that, I always shoe the Tuono with Pirelli Corsa 3's It came with Dunlop 207's (IIRC) but I absolutely *hated* them!! :D

PS: That reminds me .... I have a pair of lightly worn Dunlops on 2006 Tuono blue 'OZ style'-replica wheels (too wide for a standard Falco) if anyone's interested!!!!

What's all this mileage nonsense?

"I get 2 million miles out a back tyre" malarkey?????

Bt014 were the last proper tyres I bought. 2k from a rear.
Bt020 mebbes get 2.5k or 3k at the most

So what am I doing wrong?

Or should I be laying off the throttle a bit more often?

Or should I stick with part worn Pirrelli Super Corsa at 40/50 quid each and carry on regardless?

It depends on how you use your bike and your riding style.

If yo do 2000 miles on track, then fair enough.

If not, then maybe you need to change tyres, look at your riding style etc.

I tried Avon Azzaros years ago and got 5k front and 2.9K rear.
Always used Bridgestone before since, normally a mix, with an 014 front and 020/021 rear, which I think works very well.
BT 020 rears have given 4.2k, 4.9k, and 5.3k, latest 021, still on and OK at 6k+.
BT 014 fronts 7.5k and 6.3k, latest 021 front struggling at around 6k. I only fitted it when they stopped making the 014.
021 on front has never been as good for me and has worn in a strange way.
Will probably fit 023s next but just put a new 190 Roadsmart on the rear of the Kwack, with a front to follow shortly, and very interested to see how I get on with them.

You could just buy all the old original Metzlers at some silly price, (that people have at the back of their garages!) and ride a lot slower at a very cheap price, or buy whatever suits your budget and enjoy yourself as you do now!
Good luck with the part worn Super Corsas Andy!

I would say that they will suit you better than the road attack 2s as they are a compound so might not be so hot on the squaring off front....
+1 here too.

For what its worth, I had Avon Storms on the SV650, did over 9,000 on a pair & the front still had a little left in it, but swappe them both out to save messing.
Had Storms on the Falco when I bought it & replaced with the new Storm Ultra 2.
Never any problems, give me total confidence.
The Ultra 2's have done 4,000 miles so far, going over to France 2-up in a couple of weeks & expect they will be OK for the trip out & back.
No track days only road riding, but with the state of our roads its a wonder anything lasts.!

Big fan of the Michelin Pilot Road 2's I have fitted to the Falco. Nothing to compare them to as they were fitted to the bike when I goit it and will be replacing with the same. Now that Michelin have launched the PR3 the prices seem to have dropped somewhat as well, I got a quote for new front the other day for 95 quid fitted which is much less than i was expecting.

Heard lots of bad things about Bridgestone 021 fronts wearing badly and the one on the Wife's VFR had to be replaced after around 5000 miles. Looking at the selection of them in the rubbish pile a the tyre fitters the other day, they had all worn in the same way.

+1 Part worn tyres from a racer are the best VFM option. I find the Falco feels great on sticky tyres too. Not great in the wet though :smt118

By the way, I've got Dunlop Sportmax GP tyres on my OZ wheels. These have been rather amazing. They were bought second hand from a racer. I've done 2 track days on them plus another 1-2K commuting and they still have lots of life in them :smt017 They have lots of grip, but do need to be warmed up. My undersanding is they were specially made for a national series, which is no longer.
