Strange this, because I got one of the early ones and mine is fine.
Also comparing it with the Firestorm unit this weekend, the Firestorm one is solid but much more upright than the Bubseywoo unit and looks more likely to fall over!
Perhaps he did not do them all the same?

From reading stuff on the RSVZone it seems Bubseywoo has made several differant version's , some people being happy with theirs and others not so happy.

I am starting to get really paranoid about mine now ...RSV's are not immune to this problem either

Yep - early ones suffered from weld failures and I think he has revised the design a time or two as well.

Seems like a classic case of letting your customers do the development and testing for you .... and maybe not have thought enough about the problem and solution in the first place.

Hopefully the current ones are there or there abouts.

As I've said before, I like the modified Gixer stand solution - works well and is proven.

OK cheers for the tips everyone

had actually ordered a bubsey stand weeks ago, but been waiting for ages and had a message that said there was no ETA - so I started looking again

found a USA stand which I could have for 110 USD delivered (about £70 so bang on dyzio)

then of course, the bubsey stand is apparently now going to be with me imminently

if anyone wants a USA stand for £70 delivered let me know and I will pass your details on

Fair bit. This is the way I do them.

Drill out the thread and ream the hole opposite to accept an insert. Ream the original threaded hole for clearance. Mill the switch side of the stand flat so the switch will fit on. Drill the hole for the side stand switch pin. Turn a threaded insert to press fit into the sized hole. Cut one of the lugs of all together as it's not needed. Cut the kick and spring spigots off and re-weld them on about 1" down the shaft of the stand.

Paint or powder coat is up to you, but i'll be getting mine powder coated (can price for if needed). Then it's just a case of taking the old stand off and bolting the (slightly) modified one on, including the side stand switch with original bolts etc.

Faffage time to mod - lots.

Faffage time to fit - 10mins Tops.

Having had a recent poke round a Blackbird, I reckon there's a good chance that's another stand that will fit right on. Even the switch looks the same as ours.

For my penies worth, the Boobywhat'sit has been on mine now for 5 months and just shy of 2k, bike has been rotated on it during the MOT, i don't have anything else to compare with but happy with it.

I had the same problem and commented a few times about the delay of stock, think it took 4-5 weeks in the end

From reading this it sounds a lot more expensive than the fireblade option ?.
I think I am just going to get the local garage to weld a 10mm piece of plate to the foot and then grind down to match, total cost about a tenner.

Mine's a VTR(Firestorm); drilled a new hole for the switch pin, and a spot of weld between the stand and the stop to make it slightly more upright. So, not a lot of faffing.

ah yeh, forgot to add that I also have to make a slip to weld into the bottom of the casting to stop the stand moving too far forward/backward on the lug.

Kiwi. Like has been said, mucho faffage for a much much better stand. But if working on a budget, corners have to be cut and other ways of doing things have to be found. I can appreciate that.

did you get your boobsey stand in the end?

Reason I asked is that I have been waiting 3 months now and nothing has turned up, my cheque was also cashed too. Does anyone know this guy?

I am currently trying to get him to refund me, but even that seems to be stalling also. I have been very very patient with him, but have now given
him a time line of a week to refund me.

Looks like I may have to now take a loooonnng ride to mates either in Cornwall or near Devizes who have both said they would sort my stand out,
both being welders, metal workers.

I have to say he replaced mine cos it started to go rusty and it supposed to be the newer type. IMHO they are still crap and I would go for a different type if I knew what I do now. Get your money back and get someone to do the mod on a replacement from another bike

Personally, I would go with the US stand if its still available.

Even more sturdy then fitting a Honda / Suzuki whatever. I had a Gixer stand for a while until the buggers on the ferry actually bent the bracket and although the stand worked well enough, I couldn't believe the difference after fitting a US stand

I think I've still got a K6 GSXR stand somewhere, if its found I'll give it away, but will have to wait for the weekend.
