First ride out on the Falco today
Well, Just had the first ride out on the falco (even though I have had it since 18th December) Certainly a bit different to what I am used to.
I will have to start working my way thru all the little mods and faults now.
Very suprised how quick it is, good front brake, good handling etc but the big problem I had tonight was hanging on when twisting the throttle as the seat appears to be to long for my arse and as I slide back a few inches on the seat it is hard to hold the throttle off (well that's my excuse for the Vmax stored on the dash)
First jobs will have to be balancing the T/B's and checking the Co etc as it is very hard to ride below 3,000 rpm and then sorting out the side stand.

Can anybody tell me exactly what the difference is between the standard side stand and the fireblade one?
Does it just stick out more when down? Does it lean over more, is it shorter or what?
If I was to modify the standard stand what would it need?
I have all fabricating facilities so that is not a problem.

Use the search function to look for side stand mod.

Plenty of options available. I have modified a few GSX-R K6 stands which work really well, but work commitments and other goings on mean I haven't done any for a while. Really should get back on to that.
Good to hear you're enjoying your Falco experience.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.
I know what you mean about sliding back in the seat, I'm a porky 16 stone and even at a ton on the motorway if I accelerate hard it will slide me back in the seat. I love it!!!!
Agree with the sidestand mod, definitely do it first or you might knock it over doing other jobs.
I have a bubseywoo stand so can't comment on the other types used.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

Do the side stand first, various options, see via search.
It was over a year before I got around to doing mine, but always took care where I parked it as the standard unit is not too strong, is very upright and could actually blow over either way in a strong wind.
Have great fun getting to know the bike, but take care it beomes a habit, I'm still enjoying mine 10 1/2 years later!
