The +10 chip is I believe a code for 1 degree ignition change
It was for the small valve rotax engines
The +20 chip had the same ignition change but was for the larger valve engines

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

'Young chap'!?!?
Those pics are pretty much what my Bro has done, except he's used the front end of the AB upper half to hold the filter in place too. It kinda cups up n over the front two-thirds of his K&N if that makes sense?
If I can get the car door seals in the next day or two, then I'll have it done this week as I'm off work and yes: Pics will be taken! lol (I aint done a 'How To' since I swapped my swingarm a few years back mind...)
Slightly off-track but: These will fit the Falco wont they?.....

Its just mine have pitted-pistons (partial seize on the front right this afternoon: NOT fun!) so its either get em refurbed or buy another pair taking the risk they are in good nick...

Two is the magic number... ;)
So what's the +2 chip then?Aladinsaneuk wrote:The +10 chip is I believe a code for 1 degree ignition change

(I know that the answer to this and the others, come to that, is unknown - despite all attempts to find out)
1 degree of advance on the +10 doesn't sound like much TBH
Never heard of the +20 before

renegade chips were labelled in a very professional and scientific way..... a sticky label and either a dot matrix printer or more commonly, in my experience, a written code
i believe that +1 and +10 are interchangeable terms - same for +2 and +20 - probably down to who was doing the writing that day!
tim has iirc a +20 chip.....
i used the descriptor of +1 degree as a rough guide - i do not know the exact figure though i believe it was about 2 or 3 degrees ish
Tim has been trying to track down jorge's chip guru - to no avail :(....

If it is the one I'm thinking about, I bought it off the lad who made it and its been on my Mille for 2 years. Beautifully well done mod. If you want photos let me know and I'll get some tomorrow night.Cathcart wrote:There's a good write up floating about somewhere on this site with the air box chop. It's a cracking job the guy had done. Used a little off the front of his air box lid to hold the filter in place and for a better seal as far as memory serves...
Edit - in fact, found the original post the lad did - http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/show ... +mod+Mille

Those are exactly the same as the OE Falco fitment - 65mm between bolt centres. The ones you have to be careful of are the 40mm between centres fitting. Those are Ducati only AFAIK.falcomunky wrote:Slightly off-track but: These will fit the Falco wont they?.....

As I say, I've never heard of a +20 ...... maybe you dreamed this one up after falling asleep having eaten some special cheeseKwackerz wrote:I was hoping that one (as in the chip..) might get raped and have twins... or quadruplets
*stares with suggestion*
I have a feeling that a Rene C is the same as a +2
..which is what I have..

I think I read about the +20 chip on the old rsvrzone, aft and the original rsvr.net - and it was nick, the south african guy who used to own rsvr.net that offered me a +20 chip at the club aprilia open day at the england's rose pub... it was in a box and definitely was marked +20... I had not long had the falco then and was just starting to find out about them... that was the first time I had heard of renegade!

lol!
My amp does that...
Still with the airbox mod: Which of these two profiles would, in the sites collective mechanical knowledge, be most suitable?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Boot-Door ... 5873205%26
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Jum ... 5873205%26
Notice how the first link profile stands up near-vertical while the second is more of a horizontal profile. The link you posted bigun(showing the Mille AB mod) has the latter horizontal style. I assume that the Falco tank differs from the Mille tank underneath (as it does up-top) so anyone know if that means one profile works for the Mille, the other for the Falco?...
Need to get all this worked out before I fire-up the Dremel (I only have one AB!)...

I'm thinking about ordering the top one... Reason being, I'm sure the seal is to stick out as opposed to up on the bottom of the air box. With the top one I'm thinking it'll be possible to hook it onto the lip with some form of sealant and fixings. I could be wrong though as I've not done this mod yet.

Well, I've gone with the bottom profile
Only reason being is that when I used the oh-so-technical 'fingers up between the tank and airbox' method of measuring, (yes, I have long-fingered ladies-hands lol) it felt like there was more space on the vertical than on the horizontal. My thinking being that its more likely to achieve an air tight seal across the smaller, horizontal gap, as well as give an extra couple of cc's capacity!
I'll hopefully have it all done by the end of this week, (assuming the seal comes in the next day or two) and report back with pics/links etc...
