The importance of tightness

#1 Post by randomsquid » Mon Apr 08, 2013 8:03 pm

So you line up your overtake. Nothing in front or behind. Decide to drop down one to be sure. And the gear lever thing is dangling sadly like a sad dangly thing. So it looks like I'll be banging all the nuts and bolts this weekend to make sure they make the right noises.

I did wonder what this thread was going to be about - either sex or parsimonious Yorkshiremen or Scotsmen, I guessed.

Wrong on both counts, then... :smt003

i told you before Angelo,

"put your weight behind it"

is a metaphorical phrase

oh - you will be glad to hear that the hat is on its travels again..... is it insured?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Already claimed. It's a matter for the police, the insurers and the bailiffs now.

It's got rear sets on, it came apart on the adjustable bar between the rose joints which is the only bit without threadlock or nyloc nuts on...

It tipped over last year and bent the footrest bolt but I didn't check that bit when I slapped it back together. Must have loosened a lock nut.

The ball joint on the back of my gear level worked itself loose last year, fortunately in town so low speed. A bit fiddly to put back in without taking the pegs off, but doable at the side of the road with the Aprilia tool kit.

So how does a gear level work? Do you have to align the double-bubble to check it's right?

eggzachery, when the double-bubble is in the middle-diddle the lever-level is perfectly maladjusted

Yes, the mental image of his loose nuts isn't a very nice one
It flies sideways through time
