North Yorks Ride - Sunday 19th August

#1 Post by DavShill » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:13 am

All welcome - subject to good weather (or not really really bad weather) the initial plan is something like:

Meet just off jct 38 M62 (North Cave) at about 10am

Then head through East Yorks to Malton/Kirby Moorside
Over the moors to Guisborough and on to Stokesley
Then South on the brilliant road to Helmsley
Then back to Malton - some can split here or head back towards Beverley with me and pickup the M62 or Humber Bridge roads there.

Plenty of places for refreshments and fuel.

Unless something comes up i will be out for this ride :smt003

Forecast is looking quite good for these parts.

Just Blinkey and me at the moment. Any other takers just shout out and we'll firm up arrangements on Fri/Sat to meet on Sunday.

Forecast here is great too ..... so I won't be coming back from Rome to join the ride-out ...........

Have fun

Mmm, bit of a motorway drag just to get to starting point then a long route and journey back, looks great though but for me might be a bit much in one day, after my ride out last Sun the clutch was playing up and i was struggling to get into gear, won't be able to check until i'm back home at the weekend, no time or knowledge to fix it myself if it's nothing straight forward like filling the reservoir, is booked in for MOT Mon...so might be a last minute decision on Sat morn, will let you know if i'm in, otherwise will be pottering around the Dales on my road bike :smt009

Sorry Dave, I would really have liked to join you on this, but sadly I had arranged something else.
My daughter Jo is off to the "V" Festival at Telford for the weekend and I will be bringing them back on Sunday, (they're getting a lift down with her mate's dad, just gone).
I had been trying to swap it around so I took them down, and her mate's dad brought them back but no can do sadly.
Just out of interest, how long is the Sunday ride out (miles), as there is a 50 mile run to and back from North Cave for me and it looks a fairly long run.
Just like to know, as I would still like to join you at some time in the future!

No problem Howard there'll be plenty of other opportunities. The circular route is about 140-150 miles. No problem for young fit types like yourself - plenty of places to stop and feed/drink and chill.

Looking at the forecast it looks like it will be better to the south of the river so we may change the plan.

Blinkey - you still available to meet up on Sunday?

Good to meet you Jay. Hope you got home safe and missed the brief downpour just after we split. A great days riding and great company.
Looking forward to the next time.
