we also told them tankstelle meant they could park up there too.
The best one was telling the officers, that if they got caught by the polizei to ask if they were geheimstdatpolizei as officers were accorded special treatment

hahahaha you're evil, but surely its spelt geheimstdat polizei and wasn't that the East German state police?

Have duly bought 'ultimate addons' waterproof iPhone case with fork stem ram type mount (£37) should arrive tues for me to play with. Doing the math, but still think this will work out cheaper than 'real' sat nav ... If it works out. Off thurs so still have wiggle room if testing proves a disaster. On the beer after work 'sponsored' trip to the olympics (chaperoning lucky kids from my school.) lucky - no sarcasm - teacher me. Amazing thing this Olympics business - especially sharing a gb 1/4 final through the reactions of a group of east London preteens!

Guo, not good with the spelling, but Gestapo was the correct one. It was the stasi in East Germany I think.

i would have been jealous of the olympics school trip if it were the womens beach volley ball.....
knowing my luck I would have got the womens shot putt..... serious munter works
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I had one of those Griffin armoured cases for the now deceased (thank f**k) iphone, and it was very good at keeping sand, dust, mud and snow off the phone. Not 100% waterproof, but fairly close. Also came with a clip holster which we modified to fit in the drivers compartment of armoured vehicles with no problems. Cheap at 20 quid too.

He's visiting, not invading... but a valid point nevertheless

There is nothing wrong with invading

would be a new idea, one not seen yet, a Falco with a side car and twin MG42!

Who is on standby looking out for this desperate post that we can expect to arrive:
"I think I'm about 75km from Budapest but on day 2 the i-phone navi gave up and it's been a bit hit and miss since then. I'm sitting by the roadside - it's pouring with rain and my phone has about 30seconds left before the battery dies. My Falco's well publicised electrical gremlins seem to have returned. It just won't start and the battery is now dead. A crowd of children are pointing at me, laughing and waving sticks at me. I don't like the look of those 3 salivating dogs waiting menacingly only a few yards from me. Please remind me, what do you do if you suspect rabies?
Can anyone help..... I'm desperate"

Fug that: I have European roadside assistance. The scenario above is one I've already had nightmares about though - that and the big Brussells roundabout I did a couple of laps of last time. 75km? That's practically pushing distance for me.
Tried out the charging rig built around this mounting

Apart from the fact that I opted for a cheap accessory socket and cable - no on/off switch, I'm pretty happy. The phone charged and ran, and my organisation of wires and wotnot, while not a work of art, looks ok. The bluetooth wotzit hasn't worked out that well - only 3.5hrs of use time. However the phone possie over the steering yoke means that I should be able to ride with the headphones plugged in (as long as I remind myself to unplug them before I dismount). I put the socket on the back of the ignition barrel - hopefully this will be well enough out of the weather, though I'll take latex gloves to 'adapt' if necessary.

Good stuff. You will have to open her up in the Kennedy tunnel in Antwerpen, awesome soundtrack through there and I can sympathise with Brussels:smt003

If you suspect the local dogs have rabies make sure you cook them properly.

Never got to enjoy that one properly - always too busy trying not to get lost. In the middle of Belgium. In the middle of the night with no map.

See, shouldve had a fag packet.. dont get lost with them..
Antwerp ring road. Hmm that is something i'd like to do at night on a bike. the full road rather than dropping off at the "Sven Hassel" turnoff for Germany. Lovely bit of urban chaos that. Missus hated it, I enjoyed the bartering for roadspace with BMWs and stuff. Like Formula 1 but with more passing..
