How quickly you forget!

As a few know, my Falco has been languishing in the garage for the last few years, with only a few hundred miles put on it each year, as I've been tasked with the nursery run through the week so commuting was out (and the obvious knock-on impact of spending time with the family at weekends). Monday night was the first proper rideout it's had since about March, only a quick 30 mile blat up the road.

Wasn't really trying, given it's been a while, but it wasn't long before I had a big grin as the front end was going light setting off from traffic lights, zipping past cars on a quick overtake. Long way off GP standard, but was great to brush the cobwebs off (literally, in the case of my riding jacket!)

And, how quickly you forget that you put the side-stand down to fill up, but you quickly remember that you didn't put it back up when you set off! Pay-at-pump is a novelty, so didn't even get off the bike, and completely forgot! No issue, just a loud scraping noise and a bit of a wobble!

Hopefully, now my youngest is off to school (and the missus will be doing the transport rather than me), the bike will see a bit more action!

Good that you got out and enjoyed a quick blat

has your sidestand kill switch been bypassed ?
As you say not much of an issue at v low speed, may well have been a different tale if you'd seen a gap in the traffic and given it a big handful out of the petrol station
Dont think a new kill switch is much over £20

I chopped the sidestand switch when I changed the sidestand, not usually a problem, but like you say glad I got a gentle reminder instead of the alternatives!

Know exactly how you feel, finally got falco for mot in morning. it's not turned a wheel in anger for over 3 years!! rode it around today and HOW RUSTY AM I!!!

think i'll be going easy until it feels natural again.

dont forget youve got me and Paddy near by so you can always pop over for a cuppa

and isnt Rob nearby too? Crikey we'll have more than the webfoots at this rate

Cheers flatlander, will take you up on that at some point. Paddy was talking about popping round, now his bird is back on the road, so maybe a rideout is in order?

I've been out once or twice a year - took a ride on a road I drive quite regularly (through north Wales), and bricked it on the corners! Took a while to smooth the edges off. Good to hear you're back out there Scotty

Definitely - I'm only over the river near Warrington as well!
