A mate of mine bought an older BMW for touring to replace his Honda 750/4 as it was getting a bit long in the tooth. He signed up to the forum or owners club or some such, and discovered that most BMW owners have at least two - one to ride while the other is in repair!
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

Got another one
This one's a 1989 K100 RT, with some LT bits added. Cat D write-off - bodywork & mirror damage to one side. It runs, but has over-fuelling problems - seller thinks it's the fuel pressure regulator. It comes with 2 sets of panniers & racks (one rack & one pannier damaged), Givi rack, nearly-new Hagon shock, crash bars, & some spares. Worth it just for the luggage & shock (cost me £300.00). I'll see which of the two runs best - I'm hoping it's this RT, as, being a later model, there'll be no worries about running it on unleaded. I might, perhaps, put the engine in RS frame, as that's newly powder-coated.
Gill's not too impressed, though. Might be something to do with me informing her as I was on my way out to the pub yesterday evening, having just got back from Norfolk - on the lines of "got to go to the pub to arrange borrowing a van for this other BMW I've just bought".

My old boss has one of these bikes for his day to day hack, he never bothered taking his car test...
He did say they have niggling faults like any other bike. He's toured countless miles with no major issues, Scotland mainly...
His summer fair weather toy is a 1951 vincent black shadow in excellent condition.. Lovely looking bike.
When i see him next i was going to mention the VMCC in july.
I think you will enjoy riding the old beemer, and heaven forbid the futura might be sold

Tolerance will be our undoing.
Found it, I expect some people might have heard of the web sites owner http://www.bmridersclub.com/memberapp.htm
I hate it when people ask if you have a bathroom, I want to say "No we pee in the garden"
