Speedaway Closing?

#1 Post by randomsquid » Wed May 09, 2012 5:36 pm

Or so one of my workmates reckons. New supermarket to go on the spot apparently. Nothing on their website as yet though.

They have a bronze (pretty + fast model) falco listed with 3200 on the clock. They might be willing to haggle if it's still there.

It (the Falco) was there a couple of weeks ago.

Speedaway's shrunk since my previous visit, 3 1/2 years ago - half the showroom space - didn't notice what had become of the unused bit.

Their standard of customer service has improved - much friendlier than previously

I wonder whether they lost a lot of their Aprilia spares and service business to a certain emporium in Tamworth - it's not so far from them.

No new Aprilias on display - mostly KTM & MV.

I've heard that the local Aprilia franchise has gone to QB.
They're a nice bunch but it's a tiny place.

Don't know what happened to Speedaway. All of downstairs used to be bikes and upstairs was clobber and stuff.

Yes, QB still has the look of an old-school 'proper' bike shop, despite being jam-packed with lots of shiny new stuff.

A friend bought a Gen2 RSVR last summer, it started having problems (turned out to be the Datatool alarm); he took it to QB, as they were the nearest Aprilia dealers - their first response was 'we'll see what can do - but we've only been Aprilia agents for 2 weeks". The fault was diagnosed elsewhere. Told him to get it to Griff's, but he insisted onsomewhere 'local'.
