Cheers Plops. :smt003
I feel somekind of update on the state of play might be in order if for no other reason than to refute any drama queen interpretation of earlier posts given that I'm still around.:smt001
TBH I should never have survived my first night in hospital. I think the fact that I did is probably down to Tim's round the clock nagging of an apparent corpse.

Above and beyond the pancreatic cancer I arrived there with 4 or 5 lifethreatening infections and they didn't even think I warranted the waste of a blood transfusion.
Anyway, Granny Rayner's genes having kicked in I was delegated a bit more than minimum palliative care and managed to astound all concerned by surviving until the previously mentioned b'day party.
After making that post here I weighed myself on our £sd scales and was a tad disconcerted to discover I had dropped from 15.9 st to 8 st.
Yep ! the leathers might fit again! :smt002

Since then life has mainly been concerned with trying to build up that weight again, difficult enough given that the cancer has destroyed almost all food treatment processes, in fact the prognosis is only for a gradual (or sudden) decline. Days, weeks, months is the big question, tho tbh I don't ask it.

My life atm seems to be a round of stuffing all sorts of unhealthy but appetising fodder in my cakeole and then hitting the bog withing 5 mins. This being the location I seem to spend a large part of my life atm I'm currently pondering web access from there. Standby for an outbreak of toilet humour? I currently have just 2 desktop pooters in the office.

Anyway, your humbling treatment of the bar forum and other posts on here deserved some sort of explanation and I yet again thank you all. :smt001

Right, back to this raspberry trifle! :smt023

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Many thanks for that kind offer Pete, but you above all must realise what a battle zone it can be so I don't think it would be the ideal answer. :smt002

The Determined-ator ...... you think he's down but he gets back up and keeps on coming (or by the reports from the internet-privvy ... keeps on going!)
If they were to make a film about a robot that did this, you'd never believe them.

What with you and Becky, medical science will need new categories for resilience.

Although Tim has done a great job in keeping us informed, it's great to hear from you directly. Keep on keeping on.

.... and I see you're not far from a post-count of 6000 now :smt002

Unfortunately I've never met Sam but the man is surely an inspiration to all of us. I feel deeply humbled by his physical and mental fortitude.
Thanks, Sam. Keep it up!

I spose there's something to be said for having to stuff yourself with
unhealthy but appetising fodder
.

I have a certain very real sympathy though it's only an occasional problem with me - may I recommend Sudocrem for the ensuing irritation!

Sam. You truly are an inspiration to us all. Not only have you been diagnosed with such a c**t of an illness, but also been at deaths door on more than one occasion. To come back with the humour and banter that you have shows a massive amount of courage, but above all integrity. You could sit there and wait for it to take you in the midst of doom and gloom, but instead you laugh in it's face and live out life as much as ever. I cannot even begin to comprehend what you're going through, but somehow it doesn't seem to effect you. You've been dealt your hand and accepted your fate.. It's now down to the last few rounds to decide how long you're in the game for, but ultimately know who the winner will be.

Although I've never met you and am still quite a 'noob' on this forum, you have made a mark on my life that will last until my game is over. Over the last week I've felt like giving up on a few tasks that have been thrown at me, but I couldn't help thinking about yourself and the way you live. To give up is the easy thing to do.. But doing that means not being able to " stuff all sorts of unhealthy but appetising fodder in my cakeole".. I happen to like all that stuff, so the easy way is no longer an option!
