Stupid insurance quotes

#1 Post by fatboy » Thu Mar 29, 2012 8:08 pm

To cut a long story short Im getting ridiculous quotes for my Falco
I had a long legal dispute with DVLA after having my license revoked under medical grounds despite NOT having any condition that is notifiable to them,so I have lost all my No claims (30 years worth)
Ive used Footman James for years but Im not getting any sense from thier website and dont want to rack up a big mobile bill on an 0845 no ( I dont have land line)
I was paying £ 170 comp, now getting £500 TPO
Any ideas ??????????

Jeeez !!
Suggestions? ... use a neighbours phone, or use a broker where you can confront them in an office?
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Find an alternative to the 0845 number here: http://www.saynoto0870.com/

Yes, you'd be much better off talking to them.

And if you don't get anything sorted maybe you might post on the NABD forum http://forum.disabledbiker.co.uk/

There's a lot of useful knowledge to be tapped there.

Presumably you won this dispute, so maybe you should sue them as you've ended up out of pocket?

BG I kind of won the dispute as in I have a license, I have lost a few entitlements and the licence is short term
I have no course of redress against DVLA because of how my GP worded a medical report (too long winded to go into )
I had similar problems getting quotes for the car my mate lent me, they started at £700 but in the end I paid just over £200
was vvv tired and perplexed last night wasting hours ect,bit pissed off at losing all my no claims but other folk got worse shit Im sure

Just had a shock quote - renewal through from Carole Nash, who I've been with off and on over the last 9 years. Came in at £283, which didn't seem too bad (think that's about what I was on last year). couldn't find any cheaper the CN last year, so thought that was it.

Just did a Confused quote, and came back with at least 6 under £100, and 20 under £150 - cheapest at £86, slightly less cover (no EU cover or breakdown, but not fussed). Added the EU cover (just in case :smt003 ), £120 with Hastings.

Been said before, always worth shopping around!

I can reccomend Hastings direct 0844 8000778, been with them a couple of years and for the first time that i can recall this years renewal was cheaper than last years premium :smt003 I pay 170 FC and that includes the vat and legal cover. I was away from bikes for about 8 years so when i got one back i would take a higher excess to bump down the premium until the no claims built up again.
OOPS....There goes another pillion!!

for a standard falco - ie hanna's with the cans declared, I pay 85 quid a year fully comp

that is with 7 years no claims bonus and 3 points declared

I am 48....

my own bike - thats a different story LOL

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
