Side stand light

#1 Post by rick » Fri Feb 03, 2012 9:03 pm

Hi from down under (and a bit to the East),

Everything good, still loving the Falco... but I noticed the other day that the orange light for the side stand no longer lights up. The side stand switch still works (i.e. when a gear is selected, or side stand pushed down when in gear, the bike stalls).

Am I correct in thinking that this points to the bulb being blown, since the switch still works? I'm planning on investigating tomorrow and haven't had chance to check a wiring diagram yet...

Cheers.

Not necessarily - the switch has 3 wires that are configured in 2 circuits. One for the safety circuit and one for the light.

Right, continuity tests indicate the cable responsible for the light (the side stand end) is faulty. Closer inpsection of the rubber boot at the switch indicate its perished... a little prodding has shown the green cable is broken away from the now-heavily water damaged PCB.

I have a Firestorm wiring from the initial replacement I bought some time ago, but the hole for the switch is in the wrong position!

Anyone have a spare, good condition original wiring they are selling?

I fitted the Firestorm stand and switch a while ago.

Just drill a new hole where it needs to be.

Maybe you can't see the colour orange any more? What do oranges look like to you? Can you see those? What about satsumas?
