Shock prices

#1 Post by Tonyunn » Sat Jan 07, 2012 1:18 pm

Decided I'm going to get a Nitron rear shock, I went directly to Nitron for prices and this is the reply:
£295 plus vat plus postage of £12.50 comes in at £369 and then they casually mention that they are re-branding on Wednesday and the prices will be going up at that point.

Now makes me wonder if there is any point as I wont be using the bike that much during the year, no more than 2 or 3000 miles.

Might look at a Hagon even though they are an inferior unit.

There's also the wilbers stuff sold through revs racing if you want to buy new.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother with Hagon. They are really the budget end of the spectrum and won't be a massive improvement over the blue-spring Sachs (IMHO, of course).

I'd definitely concur with my learned fiend, Mr J Random Squid, and suggest you have a word with John at Revs. Wilbers are many, many quality notches above Hagon, and at least as good as Nitron. They just aren't as well known, is all.

The other alternative is to buy now before the price rise, of course. And even if you're only doing 2 or 3000 miles per year, I'd definitely splash the cash on decent suspension. Until you've ridden your Falco with decent suspension you just don't know what you're missing.

Really...

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

I have sent a request for prices to Revs.

If I have worked out the euro pricing looks like £350 plus postage as well.

i would still suggest getting a white spring mille shock and get revs to refurb it - a fair bit cheaper and probably as good.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Just ordered a Wilbers unit, hope you are all right about this, will get it fitted later in the spring when I can ride to the shop who are going to fit it for me.
Will let you know how it feels then.

Good move. Money spent on good suspension is invested, not wasted.
