Falco indicators
Just looked at the pic of wayofthedarkhand's Oasis green falco. V nice but reminds me of looking at my Falco, pity bout the standard indee cators. Just before my license revocation I bought some tasty (?) iridium Arrow indicators to replace the butt ugly std ones, then noticed the ugly sisters are only 8W as opposed to 21 W normal, so is it easier to use LED replacements or uprate flasher unit ? ?

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.

Before I fitted LED tail lights I was concerned about them being directional. In practice I have found this is not an issue as the lens acts a diffuser and you can see them just as easily from an angle as a conventional lamp with its reflector.
I realise I'm in a minority of 1 but I like the standard indicators.

I bought some LED indicaters for my mercury grey falco.
I am well happy with the results, to fit the indicators i bought a resistor had to be fitted on each pair of indicators.
Check out from paddys post on fitting resistors, it will be very helpfull i am sure its in the technical section
...
Has in regards to changing the indicators on my oasis it won't be happening, has i want the bike looking standard.
Being a rare breed i personally don't want to modify oh apart from changing the blue shock of course

falco indicators
Thanks for the info, will have a look in the tech sec. Back to LEDs being directional I bought a pair of LED lights for my pushbike, the rear having a diffuser lense is visible from space (probably) but the front having a clear lense despite being mega bright is not that good when viewed from left, right or behind

Same for me Andy I am not unhappy with the Falco indicators, you can clearly see them, and like the bike, they are pretty unique.D-Rider wrote:Before I fitted LED tail lights I was concerned about them being directional. I would change for the oval Mille ones, with clear lenses if I ever catch a set on eBay.
I always seem to be behind somebody on a bike with small LED indicators that you can hardly see and are flashing slowly, what the fuck use is this if you want to be seen in the middle of the road waiting to turn right.
I have an LED rear light and like you am happy with it and it CAN be seen from further away than the standard unit.
If you want to see FUGLY indicators check out the 9R and I haven't even got round to changing them yet.
Then again they bend and ultimately come out of their socket fixing if you thump them against something whilst getting the bike out of a crowded garage, (you just push them back in!), the Falco units break off (I know!).

Not so. You can get LED's now that are powerful enough to be very noticeable even with a 60 degree spread of light, especially if used behind a faceted lens. Some of the better mini indicators also have one or more LED's pointing out to the side of the bike which can clearly be seen side-on.MartDude wrote:That's a very good point; I'd never considered thatwayofthedarkhand wrote:

I've got Hein Gerricke led indies on mine. They are very well made and bright and have a led/lens in the side. Even without it they are very visible from an angle. A little more expensive than the plastic Motrax/Oxford type stuff but worth it.

LED's dont have filaments but how they work is the bulb may have 24 LED's but only 25% are used for the rear light and the remaining 75% are used for the brake lightwayofthedarkhand wrote:The LED bulbs that are the same fitments as the standard rear light bulbs - how do they work when braking?
They're rated at around 2.5w, 5w for standard rear, and 21w for the brake lights, which are of cause housed in the same bulb.
