It would be very helpful if you could measure the eye to eye length on your AP8240, Blinkey. I'm assuming yours has the ride-height adjuster, so as long as the overall length is between 320mm and 326mm (from memory) it's a Gen2. Probably. Post up the spring code, as well if it's visible.
I will drop the shock out tomorrow graham though apart from the AP shock code i could not see any numbers on the spring when on the bike.

Basically I I have an 02 Mille Ohlins to fit to my Falco and would like the linkages and dogbone to do that.
Geoff i am certain that when i cross referenced your shock with my mercury shock we was looking at an identical item....
Bear with us the answers to which linkages are coming :smt002
The only thing that has thrown me is when you turned with the shock you had falco linkages, which made me question the suitability.
It may well be at the end of all this that falco linkages will work ok :smt017 :smt038

An 02 MilleR Ohlins will not work properly with Falco linkages.

The only ways it might work are if:
  • * It is actually a 99/00 MilleR but wasn't registered until 02 and it is being incorrectly referred to as an 02. A good number of Aprilias were registered some time after they were built.

    * It has been re-valved and re-sprung to work with Falco/Early Mille Linkages.

    * It wasn't the original shock on the Mille and one from an earlier bike was fitted to it along with the appropriate linkages

Just to throw yet another variable into the discussion... Does anyone know how the Futura linkages/dogbone relate to the Mille and Falco setups? Because these are on sale on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/APRILIA-RST10 ... 2c616d327e

And they look amazingly similar to (if not the same as) RSV Mille 2001-2003 and Tuono 2003-2005 components. Anyone care to comment?

Geoff, as I stated in an earlier post, all the indications are that you have a standard OE fitment Ohlins from an RSV Mille 2001-2003 or Tuono 2003-2005. You need corresponding linkages from those bikes.
