If it turns out to be a duff injector, then I have a brand new one going spare.

Very similar thing happened to me yesterday (Saturday). Had a run out to Wales, tight twisty road, judge overtake perfectly, get alongside caravan and she fluffs it, on coming transit, just managed to hit brakes & dive back in. Shit myself (almost).
Anyway survived that but she faltered again so turn round & head home, about 50 miles. Just got worse & worse cutting out every 100 yards or so in the end.
Had to go though the Mersey Tunnel, but she would have cut out, (£72 breakdown charge for bikes) so swerved that and struggled to Wallasey Aprilia dealer and left it with them.

Hello btw.
Dave

Bloody hell it must be the hot weather - seems I'm not the only one.
Wavey - let us know what the Aprilia mechanics say about the problem and solution.

Will do, they will be looking at it on Tuesday.
Really looking forward to an Aprilia bill!

Update ....... Checked the cut out switch and the side stand switch and they seem fine. Plugs were changed in Feb and have done 1500 miles since so don't think it's the plugs. Ordered some BG 44K as recommended by Andy. It arrived today and I added about 1/3 of the can to a tank of fuel and took her for a test ride tonight.
Out for approx an hour and gave it plenty of varied throttle activity - pinned it hard through the gears three or four times and........................................................................................................................................................................................................................... she pulled like a freaking train !!!

No idea if it's fixed it really so will have to see how she goes over the next few weeks.

Wavey - Any news on tyour problem today?

Sounds like a double dose of good news so far, hope it stays that way!
Never sure about stuff like supermarket petrol these days, the story goes that they sell it cheap because they do not put the additives in like they are supposed to.
Never used to be too sure about the stuff that gets added, but these days modern engines have to run on pretty crap low octane fuel, so even with good engine management they must get stuff occasionally that is just more difficult to fire.

Probably had winter additives in through the heatwave too. :smt002

well I may have to take my share of responsibility in running too low a couple of times before going to tesco hopefully just pulled a bit of crud through which equally hopefully is covering a roadside somewhere and not the inside of my engine :smt003

Hi
I rang the Aprilia mechanic 4.45PM, he said they had cleaned out the throttle bodies & injectors and performed a basic service as requested by me. They hadn't replicated the problem in the garage so will have an extended test ride Wed morning. Fingers crossed.
