Best time for biking now seems to be April/May - and it used to be 'April showers'...!

Just depends where you chose to live.

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

As you may recall South Yorkshire has some recent history of wet summers, like 2007 and all the wellie jokes on the Aprilia Ridersite.

Well it has rained a bit lately and although it has been the coldest summer (in Coventry at least) for 18 years, so far this year our total rainfall has only been 66% of the average over the past 30 years.
There has been little blazing summer weather for riding - though a lot of grey skies.
Fortunately days for riding such as the trip down to the MotoGP at Silverstone torrential downpour have been few and far between.
I think that this summer has been much drier than the previous 2 summers.

good to see you have been using your enforced home time productively ... did you manage to catalogue the stamps in the end ?

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Not sure what you mean exactly by that?
But I'll beg to differ
My Aprilia mainly comes out to play on dry and more sunny days.
The Kwack
usually gets used more in winter and in the worse weather during the rest of the year.
Not sure, but I recklon I have done more miles on the Kwack this year, it is supposed to be the other way around.

To be honest i am a fair weather biker, there is just something about being wet and cold that does not appeal to me, also cant do with spray off the lorrys. I would rather travel in the car and put some logs on the fire

The kwak is supposed to get wet and grubby. That's it's job. The Aprilia is supposed to come out on nice sunny days but every time I ride it I get rained on. Even if it's just enough to show how pointless the hugger is.
