+1 on that, I've had Pirelli Diablo on F&R since dumping the Mez3s, but when the pair are up next time probably going to give Bridgestone a go, as they seem to be well regarded on hereD-Rider wrote:I think that as tyres are:we tend to play cautiously and stick with what we know.
- a) only bought occasionally
b) cost quite a lot of money

When I had mine done a couple of weeks ago the nice man quoted £230 for a pair of tyres of my choice, fitted, for cash. They had a good range of manufacturers and types.MartDude wrote:

When I asked about PR3's teeth sucking ensued and the price suddenly went up to £300.

Crikey.
My Pirelli Rosso Corsas were £190 fitted (bought at NEC show)
The Angel STs I have bought were £189 (not fitted) but I got £25 cashback from Pirelli bringing them down to £164 plus whatever it costs me to fit them.
You just need to know somewhere that will fit them for a reasonable price.

I paid 210 quid for my bridgestones, the quote for the dunlops was 240, both was fitted/ fitting. i was also told that tyre prices have risen in june slightly, i will be fitting a bridgestone on rear has front still has life. then when a pair is required i might try another brand. i dont think there is a bad branded tyre, but i think it depends what you expect for money. ie milage/ grip etc etc
Tolerance will be our undoing.
..... I had that view too .... until I bought the Falco and experienced the Metzeler Mez3 tyres that were fitted as standard.blinkey501 wrote: i dont think there is a bad branded tyre,
Awful, terrible, horrible, nightmare, that resulted in a non-handling bike.
The best thing about them was they wore out quickly.
Really, this is not just ranting about something that was not quite up to it. The other things we complain about (sidestand and rear shock) pale into the distance of insignificance compared to those evil rubber hoops.

They're certainly good. The tyres I had are listed at £200 plus delivery. My main hurdle is a lack of transport for loose wheels. So £230 ride in - ride out doesn't seem too far off the mark, plus I wangled those bent valves, which are worth their weight in knuckles. And they're shiny.D-Rider wrote:

The OE Dunlops on my Kwak were frightening. I had to do a like for like swap on the back because I put a 3" gash across the back one just down the road from a bike shop. The tyre they had in was supposedly the same model as the OE one but the difference was night and day.D-Rider wrote:..... I put some road legal track tyres on my Falco (Dunlop SPortmax GP) for a track day and also used them on the road. For me, the Falco is significantly improved with sticky tyres. I felt more confident in the front end. Also, this type of tyre is cheap to buy used (50-90 for a pair). It's not a novice option, as the wet performance is poor and they need warming up. Worth a try in summer if you avoid the rain. Not good for touring of course

Where do you go in Reading? Have been to Ride-in a couple of times and very impressed, not to mention heard plenty of good comments from others. Plus he quoted a the cheapest price around for a new front for the Falco when I actually get around to it.Falconihlist wrote:Off to Reading on Friday to get the BT023's and scrub them in on the way to Nooj's
