Yeah - contacting the GP is on the potential list of things to do. We've been putting a bit of pressure on the team at the hospital to tell us where else they can send her .... while I've been searching the net myself for hospitals that do this EBUS procedure.
I'm also trying to get through to the chap we were referred to in Birmingham to see whether there is any chance of a cancellation or whether he can suggest where else we may try.

Obviously nothing we can offer, but good luck with your endeavours to get an alternative solution.
I generally find at this stage that it really is the time to create a stink rather than being the usual "nice understanding guy".
It doesn't always work, but is usually more productive than walking away and saying "thankyou, I'll wait until you get back to me".
If nothing else it makes you feel better.
Keep your chin up, especially today!

Just did a search on the subject. Papworth seem to be active with it and the bloke here http://www1.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/people/pallav.shah/ seems to do stuff down in London,(hospitals mentioned) as well as lectures on it. Wonder if they would benefit from a patient to carry out the procedure on during one of their courses.. Dunno, Im not medical, but anything is worth pursuing i guess.
Seriously hope you find the solution to the situation. You have my prayers to accompany my rather odd google searches.

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Thanks guys for your searches - yes I've found some of these but not all of them and I've emailed the chap we were referred to in Birmingham.
Hopefully we'll get something sorted.
One of these days I might be able to start talking bikes again (sorry to all in hijacking the forum - the way it's going it will become the D-Rider's family medical woes forum .... if it hasn't already)
TBH I'd not really intended saying too much but thought people deserved an explanation as to why I might be giving things here less attention - then having posted, people have taken an interest and it's seemed right to update the news. However .... we'd all better start posting a load more bike stuff as well so that we keep the balance.

Hopefully we'll get something sorted.

Hope you have may more to come.
Don't bother about the hijacking, this is more important than any bike related topis.
Only just but it is.
Hope all goes well and keep us updated, you know we're all thinking positive thoughts for all of you.

Your situation is not to be borne, get hold of the patient liason service and tell them (not ask) that possible cancer is supposed to be dealt with within a fortnight and they's better do something about it!
When I had an op (not life-threatening) postponed for a third time, I emailed them saying I understood I was entitled to have it done privately - they fitted me in within a week.
Make a fuss! A wise biker once told me "Don't forget, the squeaky wheel gets the most oil"

The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
Thanks Bobbi - that seems like good advice, I'll look them up.BikerGran wrote:Your situation is not to be borne, get hold of the patient liason service and tell them (not ask) that possible cancer is supposed to be dealt with within a fortnight and they's better do something about it!

Nothing like the experience of those that have trod a similar path to point you in the right direction.

One of the best things about this forum is the fact that the people on here are so willing to help and genuinely lend an ear in any way, bikes or personal.
We have nearly all benefitted at some time in both ways. That is the main thing that makes things different from any other sites I've been on.
As you get older you seem to have less friends ang get a bit insular, this site and others help you find new friends with similar interests.
This site just seems to do it better than most.
If you need to talk, there always be somebody to listen.
Again, I hope it all goes well.

Howard.. Couldn't have put it better myself.
Andy. As BG say's, make a fuss. My neighbour did when his wifes op (for a buggered shoulder) was cancelled on the 3rd time of asking. They were soon moved over to the Meriden Hospital opposite the Women & Children's entrance at the top of hill. Private room, top class treatment and out-patient care to boot.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.
