What TC says is very true. Treatment has progressed in huge leaps and bounds even in the past 5 years.

From the sounds of it, you've caught it early - and that makes things so much more favourable.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Thanks again everyone for your good wishes - especially those going through tough times themselves. Best wishes and prayers for you too.

Thinking of you today Andy, and hoping the test results are good news and come thro quicker than the week you mentioned.

Many thanks Sam

..... Time for an Update:

Yes, today was the day for the rigid bronchoscopy so that they could get the sample for the biopsy.
We got to the hospital on time. Joy was 3rd in line for theatre and just before I left her and went on to work, they estimated she'd be "in" about mid day. As is often the case, things were delayed but I got a text around 3pm to say she was back.
It was a couple of hours later she texted again to say the doctor had been to see her to say that they had been unsuccessful in taking the biopsy sample. Apparently they have now discovered that that the tumour is outside the airways and is squeezing them from outside - so going inside for the sample in the way they did could not work.
As a result, Joy has been allowed home ..... and now we wait to find out what is the next procedure they will use to get the sample so they can analyse it and then decide what can be done.
She's not feeling great tonight - bad head from the general anaesthetic, bad throat from the bronchoscopy, the general shortness of breath she's been suffering anyway and not really any further to knowing any more about the problem and starting treatment.
Could do without these delays and get on with the treatment TBH.

Guess we'll hear more after the doctors have their own meeting on Thursday - though we might have to wait 'till Monday to be told as that is when they hold their clinic.

As crap as the NHS is at the day to day stuff, they're pretty good when it comes to proper emergencies, so you could take any delays as good news, the doctors don't think it's serious enough to warrant immediate action.

Good luck and best wishes to Joy. Andy - I hope you are looking after yourself too. Make sure you've got someone to rant and sound off to or just talk with. Sorry if that sounds cras but I hope you know what I mean.

Thinking of you all.

Cheers again everyone.

Just got some more bad news on this :smt009

Joy has just phoned the hospital to see how things stand with getting the next biopsy attempt made at Birmingham.
Apparently the one and only doctor who does this has his patient lists full for this week and then goes on holiday for a fortnight.
.... so we still know nothing about the tumour and there is still no plan to treat it.
I thought things like this need to be treated as soon as possible - we've been waiting something like 6 weeks already and now we're probably facing another month's delay.
Clearly this is unacceptable but not sure where we go from here ......

30th Wedding Anniversary today ... and ideally, I'd like to hang on to her for a few more ..........
