Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Last oil change I just banged the old washer back in and presto! oil leak from the plug. Fortunately I'd over filled it and so just did a quick washer swap without losing too much oil. job jobbed.

Hope yours is that easy to do. BTW do it with the engine cold as you'll have your finger on the drain hole for a lot longer than you think. I couldn't get the ally washer off the bolt with one hand, so just whacked a new copper one on top, I'll sort it out next oil change.

Well no to the washers gentleman it's the bloody back fixing LUG , had the fairing off today and had her fired up till i got to 94 and the fans kicked in and you can see a drip forming so i cleaned it off and watched and you can see a very very faint oil line forming then running down the tank and dropping off about half way...ARGHHHHHHHHHHH :smt013 .
Needless to say that's about 4 L's of oil that's now got to come out again , the word F##K seems to be being used quite a bit today ......

Will be getting it off later tonight and handing it over to my mate who is a welder PRO and he'll have the thing fixed up and ready soon enough.........

On the good side i have now replaced the anit-vib rubbers with thinner ones so when it's ready to fit back it should fit closer in and not rub on the belly pan anymore ..........famous last words those ones !!!!

FUN FUN FUN ..... :smt005 :smt010

Good to have found the prob, and one with a straightforward solution.

It's now off and been picked up by said welding god who has said i should have it back either tonight or tomorrow morning .......well happy :smt003 but looks like i'll be the one buying him beers which isn't a problem , thank god for good mates !! :smt040

Looks like the exhaust is going to have to wait as it hasn't turned up yet , suppose it gives me something to do when i get back from work .......as if two kids with another one on the way , a women who hates me cause she's preggers again ( as if it's my fault !! ) the bank always wanting money off me ( is that my fault again ?? ) and just basic life isn't enough... :smt005

OH the joys of owning a FALCO ..... :smt017 :smt013 :smt010 :smt005

Oil leak fixed after number one mate fixed it with some careful welding so now it's all back in place and all is good after a hour blast up and down the lands end road THEN to make things better my Exhaust has turned up although a shame i'm off tomorrow. He's done a real good job in it and i'm well happy so can't wait to fit it when i get back .....

The fun continues ...... :smt003

Right i'm back although only for four days then off again so am thinking kids at school Monday i'm going to have a go at fitting this exhaust so was just wondering if there were any tips to removing the down pipes or is it a straight forward three bolt undo.........Ya right ... :smt009

Do i need some super special Aprilia tool or can i just go straight in with what i have in the garage , should be fun and expecting a lot of swearing and skin lose to hand but hopefully it'll be worth it.

Also been looking at these and was wondering what you guys thought about it , am liking the look when fitted but as it's been made in China i'm not expecting it to last , do look good though ..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/230516074910?ru=h ... 3D1&_rdc=1

And yes i've read the bad reports as well hence the reason for a double check on here before buying but i'm willing to take the gamble i think , as it stands at the moment i have a carbon blueflame end can to fit once i find the link pipe and fit the new down pipes but keep getting drawn to these........bugger :smt017

Universal joint - especially for the rear header!

I also have some weird flexible arm thing that goes round corners - that helps a lot!

Good light source - I use a head torch

Don't tighten the header bolts until the mid section is on - that gives you wiggle room

Yes - that rear header can be a bit of fun. You might even find that it helps to pull the rear wheel out. When I did mine, I swapped the swingarm at the same time so I don't know what it is like to do this with the wheel in place. I think you may get a bit of a better view with the wheel out - but that's just a guess.

rear wheel out does make it easier

but, with a decent light source and a friend to help the rear wheel can stay put - a set of fingers from the left side to guide the socket on makes it a lot easier
