Thoughts for next bike .....

Been thinking about this too Andy, have got some freelance money coming through and dreamt about a second bike before reality hit and 'Honeymoon' spending money came to the front of the que!!
Thought about a second Falco and converting to a Tuono but too similar, think i'd like to go for a Z1000 or Speed/Street Triple, cries out for tweaking/personalising or just to be even more different the new Bonneville...oh well we can all but dream, Oz wheels to get first!

Just get the bike that you still want, age is only a factor, when you really get there and you will know.
At that time you can still buy a Bonnie or something similar.
I seriously thought about a Thunderbird Sport before I got the 9R, but decided I wasn't that old just yet! (some may beg to differ).
Whilst you still enjoy bikes get the one that will really make you happy and give you enjoyment.
Comfort has to have a higher profile, as you get older, but it is surprising what you can get on with.
I'm lucky in that a sports tourer gives me the best comfort, I can't do sit up and beg and very sadly I cannot cope at all with the feet forward tractor riding stance, so will never be able to ride a conventional Harley
My dream bike has always been an MV F4, but would probably struggle a bit with that as well if I'm honest, (shorter trips would be OK and I could spend hours just lookong at it).
Just keep an open mind,
You'll know what you really want when you find it!

..... there is no real search - just a realisation for some time that there wasn't a newish bike that really ticked the boxes - should I ever need to replace the Falco or wish to add to the bikes I've got.HowardQ wrote:

Having previously dismissed the Tuono V4 due to it's upright riding position and ugliness, I read some very interesting things that suggest in other respects it may be a really great bike ..... hence the realisation that some simple re-bar-ing and re-fairing-ing might make a good Falco replacement.
The thread was an (obviously) failed attempt to get a bit of discussion on the Tuono V4 ...... however, it's still been an interesting discussion.

The TV4, looks a very interesting bike and has had great write ups in Bike Mags. Sadly it is out of my price range, and by the time it is within reach, second hand, I'll be getting close to a Thunderbird or a Bonnie.

I have to say when I first heard about Aprilia's intention to build their own V4 to replace the Rotax V-twins I was partly sad and partly interested. But I guess they pushed the V-twin thing as far as they thought they could, and a V4 was the logical next step. They could have gone the Ducati route (a 1200cc V-twin), but opted for a 1000cc V4.
On balance, I think it was probably the right decision, as a 1000cc V4 has a lot more headroom for increasing capacity if ever needed, whereas a 1200cc V-twin is (to my mind) pretty much at the limit of where you want to go in terms of piston and cylinder size.
And while there is little to beat a V-twin exhaust note, a V4 runs it pretty close. Certainly my old VFR750 used to make a wondrous howl on a pair of carbon cans...

Rather than having the World Superbike rules continually changed to keep their V-twins a little more than competitive, they could have campaigned their V4 on a level playing field with everyone else ..... but what am I saying? Compete on a level playing field when they can change the rules to give them the edge? .........

I don't think I'd want another bike, I'd rather try and adapt the Falco to the new role.
