The Great North Run(...out!)

#1 Post by furygan man » Sat Jun 11, 2011 6:54 am

I have advance notice (rare for me) of a full day pass on Sat 9th July so subject to it not being damp/raining, i'm planning to explore North Yorks finest roads, the plan is to do two loops either side of th A1 and whilst i'm fine to do the route alone i thought i'd throw it out there in case anyone wants to use it as an excuse to get a get together of Falco's? No commitment or signing up, will just put a reminder out the week before and monitor the weather a couple of days before.

Okay starting point...depending on interest (if any) would be

Sherburn in Elmet-Squires Cafe
or
A1 Wetherby Services

Loop one (East)

a) York/Thirsk-Helmsley-Stokesley-Richmond
or
b) Selby-York-Fridaythorpe-Malton-Helmsley-Stokesley-Richmond

Lunch- Manor Cafe, Leyburn

Loop two (West)

Hawes-Thwaite-Tan Hill-Moors road back to Leyburn

Cup of tea then people can go their seperate ways back North, South or East

My route home will be Masham-Ripon-Patley Bridge-Harrogate-Ilkely

Tan Hill Inn road to Reeth :smt011 ...orribble!

Thwaite- Tan Hill...beautiful and smooth :smt001

Decided to head out last minute around 10.30 on Sat, Settle then to Hawes was okay but damp in places, initial road out of Hawes vertical and rough, then brand new tarmac to Tan Hill Inn, then rough and bumpy and petrol/diesel spills down to Reeth, think the main A684 is better option. Leyburn-Masham-Ripon...nice

....Just me and thee then Herb on the 9th?

Was at Hawes on Sat and some Falco owner came over and started chatting about Falco's and all i could go on about was the mods/fettling and the Forum, we ought to carry 'calling cards' to spread the word, he was pretty happy with his stock Falco until i started going on about sidestand, starter selenoids, cans, blue shocks etc....must have thought i was on drugs

That's two rideouts and two Falco owners in the last two weekends now!

'Calling cards' were doled out at the last Norfolk w/e. :smt002
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
