Not sure about the best way to repair it, sanding down the rough edge would probably work OK, small chips can be sealed and hidden to some extent with clear nail varnish, the bit on top is hidden fairly well by the bike as it is so a blob of nail varnish as well may be enough to hide it quite well.

Back in the days when I had a Falco swingarm, I had a similar NWS Carbon Hugger.
It also had a similar hole in the top - the chap I bought it ftom said it happened when he landed it rather heavily (he being an even weightier chap than I) and made contact with the bolt on the undertray that fixes the battery holder (if I remember correctly).

A judiciously placed "Aprilia Racing" sticker procured from ebay solved the problem admirably.

Don't remember bottoming the rear end out, must have been with the original shock I guess, interesting to see it's not an uncommon thing.
