Don't use Putoline Syntech 4 oil
And don't trust the franchised Aprilia dealer when he says it'll be fine for Falcos.
Yes, I now have clutch slippage and yes, I should have known better and refused any fully synthetic oil, but the dealer was insistent that it'd be OK.
Well, lets see how he is when I insist on my money back......grrrrrr!!!!
Will be visiting 123bp.net to source the correct oil forthwith.

It's always a shame when things dont go well at dealerships.. they above everyone, should know their subject down to the Nth..

I told one of the owner mods at af1 about the 10/40 compatibility in the rotax engines - then andy posted the official letter... dated 1999 - he did not know about it

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

He might have known about it as the 10/40 semi was only recommended by Aprilia as a fix for bikes that are suffering clutch slip.Aladinsaneuk wrote:erm

For those of you with the older models it's probably prudent to use it anyway but for those of us with late model bikes, synth is normally absolutely fine.

Sorry - was late in and misread what you'd written - thought we were talking about the dealer who gave the advice at the beginning of the thread.... yes I know about the AF1 revelation.Aladinsaneuk wrote:actually andy - he did not know about it at all - ghostrider asked him and he said he had actually learned something.....
