ahhh - the doner physique explained
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Am not overly sure to be honest. The one's I've done thus far are of two different types. One needs to be machined to accept the side stand switch, the other doesn't. I offer them up to my bike before having them finished though.. Just to make sure they fit and work well.

TBH that's always been the issue with the GSX-R stands - many a time people have asked "which gixer" and even those of us that have gixer stands are not entirely sure what they came from - just that we've fettled them to work.

Apologies, I didn't appreciate (or was too lazy to read properly) that Will was manufacturing / adapting gixer stands to suit
My question is (other than how long is the queue / and whats its going to cost me?) will a modified Gixer stand solve the problem I have in that my ride height is 20mm above standard.

I should say so
The Gixer stand seems to cope with a wide variety of ride heights as it widens the "footprint" significantly and tilts the bike over more.
I've had my bike with both the OE shock and my Ohlins set to max height and the Gixer stand has been perfect for both.

Sounds like I finally have a definitative answer
So whats the score? Do I buy a gixer stand and send to Will for fettling (love that word) or is Will selling the stands already fettled?

Find a stand, send it to me.. I'll sort it and send it back in exchange for a few beer tokens.
Machining is £20. Powder coat £15 (if you want it that is) + postage.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

Just to ad. Rick bought one via eBay and had it send directly to me rather than having to pay two postage costs.
Turn around at the moment is going to be a couple of weeks. Am busy both at work and at home (spanner bikes for others in my spare time).

Cheers Will,
So the final question..............Is there a particular Gixer stand I should be looking for?
There are a lot of Gixers of all ages & capacities out there!!!!

Here's a pic that shows the correct Gixer stand next to a standard Falco stand.
You can see the difference.
The Gixer ones of this shape were fitted to several models - I think the 1000s too.
They seem to generally be about £20 on ebay at present - dig around on there - just make sure you get this shape.
(btw the one in the pic is unmodified)
Don't buy the Falco one by mistake

I've gone the VTR Firestorm root and whilst it was an improvement, I'm not overly impressed... the angle isn't that much different to the OEM and it is approx. the same length. Glad I've opted for the GSXR one... should have gone that route from the outset.
Looking at that pick comparing the two the difference is night and day...
Looking forward to collecting mine Will... I should be around this weekend to pop over if you're around... will PM ya later in the week.

Hi Rich,
Just a quick note; the one in the comparison photo is basically a stand made of tube (as is the Falco item). Mine is a cast item - same dimensions as far as I can see - but I suspect it will be heavier duty than a tubular jobbie. Either will be a million times better than the stand PoS, but I do like my one-piece cast stand...
And I thought the cast one was a K5/K6 item, but now I'm not so sure. Mebbe one comes off the 600/750, the other comes off the 1000 - I dunno...
Done a quick searc and 'twould appear that mine is a K7/K8 one, as shown here:
