we have already exchanged a few messages

I am around if you or sam have any other questions - and i will be as gentle, and thorough as needed - and will answer questions for how ever long is needed - and no worries if you start to ramble.... am not certain how we would notice any more rambling than normal but....

Glad that she is breathing on her own, and is being brought round from the chemical coma.... and yep, that ET tube will be flying across the room fairly quickly....

and Tim, when she does wake up, send her our thoughts - and do that and we will let you have a bloody good cry :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Becky was tried without oxygen and sedatives for a while yesterday but wasn't quite ready for that, so a bit disappointing but everything is under control atm.
Still waiting on a bed available at Addenbrookes.
Good and bad days are going to become a way of life methinks.

Afternoon update: Should be ariving at Addenbrookes any time now. :smt001

I never saw the original post last time I was online but we wish Becky all the best and hope you are all bearing up under the strain.

Becky is still making slow progress but is sedated a lot of the time because of restlessness, pain or further treatment/tests.

Any more news?

This reminds me of a similar thing happening to one of my daughter's friends locally - it took a while but once he was completely better he never had any recurrence, and no after effects.
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

Becky had a tracheostomy on friday (day 14) to get that tube out of her mouth/vocal chords, so is more comfortable. Sedation has been stopped and she is managing to make herself understood. CT scan this afternoon has shown a big improvement to her lungs. All good news, if slow progress, but still a long road ahead with other problems to be tackled.
She has had some secondary infection.

A lot of prayers have been answered already. Thank you.

As Sam has said, she's made improvement on her condition although we know that there is a long road ahead.
She's stressed out due to the lack of sedation as things are clearly different from when she went under sedation.. like a fek off big hoover tube coming out of her neck for starters.. but she's mainly stressed out with the pain from the cannulars that are shoved into her right arm and wrist area. and the sensors stuck on her chest.. and the lights are too bright.. and the bed is at the wrong angle.. and she cant talk to anyone as her voice dont work.. and... well I guess you get the idea! She's in a world of upset at the moment, but thats something we have to just deal with. Frustration central for all concerned.

Things are getting better though, but this is still the first battle. Still a long way to go to win the war.

Thankyou so much for the kind words and best wishes, prayers and support. It's gratefully received and not taken lightly. Thanks very much :)

Pardon my ignorance (and I may have missed this), but how old is Becky?

Poor girl. Just when life should be opening up in front of her, this crap happens. I'd be crabby as hell if it was me...
