I've moved
So here I sit on a warm Friday afternoon in the office with a beer at one hand and some nibbles at the other, so I thought it about time I let you all know of my latest relocation.
I've been unable to find the job I've been looking for in Melbourne and it's been a really shitty winter. If I wanted to have rain and cold weather I could have stayed in Scotland.
So I started looking in Queensland for work. I've got a couple of mates from the Brisbane area who rate it. So along comes a prospective position that has a job description that is close to what I envisage as my ideal position. The phone interview goes OK, but not fantastic, but the face to face goes much better and I pretty much get offered the job. I took the offer to get flown in for a look see before deciding, which went well and I decided to take the job.
This is the end of my second week and I'm loving it here in Townsville (look it up) about 4 hours drive south of Cairns. In the tropics so nice and warm, humidity could be an issue but thats why god invented A/C.
Swimming in the ocean is like having a warm bath, althought the ambiance is spoilt by the potential presence of fatally venemous sea snakes, big box jelly fish with fatal stings, small jelly fish with fatal stings, tiger and hammer head sharks and the likelihood of 4+m crocks.
Still looking forward to the >95% humidity when the summer gets here.

Great to hear you finally got somethinmg sorted after all this time Dale.
Especially as it seems to be something like what you always wanted in the first place.
Hope it all turns out really well for you.
Sounds like you should spend your free time out doing something really safe, like giving the old Falco an good thrashing around the local roads. Oh and some nice long tours with the good write ups and photos to follow.
We always enjoy them.
Seems to me this is a lot safer than going down to the local beach!
P.S. Looked up Townsville, it sounded like some grotty town in the backend of nowhere, but looks really nice! Especially the Strand and the Riverway.
Enjoy !!!!

Nice one. I know a chap not too far from Cairns.. Owns an old Norton Commando and has built himself a really nice Triumph T160 from bit's he's sourced over eBay and the internet in general.
Nice part of the world too.. Just watch out for the tropical storms. Make sure you've got a decent back-up generator and ready supply of ale n' food. Chap I know was down for 2 weeks last year.. Was lucky he had enough fuel for heating etc..

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.
So you've gone from cold and wet to hot and wet? Step in the right direction I suppose

With all those nasty animals maybe TB should retire there, he'd get on well with them
I'm not so impressed with this tho in your summer
Historical Average Rainfall
Approx Average Monthly Rainfall - mm
Winter(June-Aug): 17
Spring(Sep-Nov): 30
Summer(Dec-Feb): 229
Autumn(Mar-May): 108
Looks like its 3 times what Scotland gets
Have fun tho and get a boat before the rain sets in they'll cost more after

Why all the talk of Ausie women? .... he tells us he's taken a particualr interest in the Land of Queens to explore a new phase of his life .... at least that's what I think he said ...........Falcopops wrote:At least I'd go out with a smile (or something that stinks of fish) on my face!kiwi_rsvr wrote:and on top of that theres the Aussie women.....
