££ Money ££!!!...oh what to do next???

#1 Post by furygan man » Wed Aug 04, 2010 4:48 pm

Okay have some cash again so here's the plan- Book in to see Griff and...

Get Mille 'white' rear shock serviced and fitted
Obron clutch slave fitted
.4 Clutch jet fitted
Have ordered new starter relay

now they are deffo's, the ones i'm not sure on are-

Is it worth getting the forks serviced?

PC3/chip/Hooked air box??- I've asked a load of questions, read a millon threads but still can't decide whether to make do with K&N filter/Carbon Can, Cans and just get a chip for the forseeable future or go the whole hog and blow it on an Hooked/PC3/Chip combo, my reasoning? Not sure will have the money in the future wondering whether to blow it now i've got it? Wish i was 100% i knew what everything did, seems there's good points on all but then you lot know what your talking about :smt017

And that's before i start thinking about swingarms and Oz wheels!!

Come on Pete help me spend the cash...credit rating has gone up! :smt003

how old is your bike?

and how many miles??

i would suggest that you do get forks serviced - I know I will be doing mine this year

re hooked airkit - oh yes

re chip..... hmmmm lots of choice out there - and a gabro may well be ideal solution

pc3 - do it only after you have finished everything else (like start playing with 54mm TBs etc)

(I swear by my rene chip - but i have a full rene system!)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Sorry yes-

2001 Red, 10,000 miles

Have only put 800 miles since owning the bike last Oct

Mods to date-

Carbon Cans
K&N air filter
Belly pan
Screen
New battery
SidestAnd
Extended mirrors
Tail tidy
Indies
Rad grills

Mainly cosmetic stuff so wanted to concentrate on performance/smothness/economy, not interested in top end speed (crap myself when heading north of 80!!!)

Just seems most of you out there have some sort of chip/box mod done and rave about them

i would sort suspension - and yes do front forks at same time

oh - consider ohlins internal cartridges...... ask griff as to why..... basically is a none bling but valid upgrade

there are a fair few pc3's coming up second hand quite cheap - but i would go hooked airbox first with a gabro or renegade chip

Got to agree ..... looking at the mileage, the cost of mods and doing a quick cost of mods per mile suggests the best thing to spend your money on is fuel.

..... and OZ wheels are so last year ....

i still say suspension

and mileage of bike is not the thing - age of the fork oil is....

just my opinion of course

I'm going to be doing lots of work on my Falco... but over the winter... ride it now when summer is still here and do your upgrades over the winter! We need to meet up and have a blast... two red falcos together would look awesome!

I have loads to do, to include new slave cylinder (seal weeping, wasn't going to get a new cylinder but might as well), jet, braided hoses, stubby levers, service forks, valve clearances, usual servicing oil etc., new pads.

Sorry... thread hijacked slightly!

Not arguing with that - that's just basic servicing - though of a part that often gets overlooked.

No .... all I needed to do was to go out to my garage - I can then polish them too.
:smt004

really must get some tyres on them and put them on the bike

Ha Ha! Knew that was coming! :smt003

Believe me 800 miles is not by choice, I know what it looks like but it's been a tough/complicated 18 months and didn't want to add to the stress of 'others' so i've had to use it as and when i could. Next year will be a lot different!

Pete- will take on board the comments and sounds like a plan

Herb- was up walking around Kettlewell/Buckden...and all i could here were bikes zooming around...haven't given up hope of bringing the bike up to Yorks one weekend, M1 route is a drag and the main thing that puts me off apart from the working away from home in the week/not seeing partner senario!! :smt012

Rick/Andy- As i said i'm out and about next Fri early eve! Might even commute up from Bucks so will be heading up M40/M42/A46 around 5.30ish

this seems a very dangerous thread, I don't think my credit rating will let me read on :smt003
