A friend of mine (and D-Rider) had an exhaust system for his 600 Hornet (some Honda thing) done by Quill. They fucked it right up. The manifold flanges were made from 1/4" aluminium which distorted with the heat, which made it leak.. Badly. They also drove a screw that was too long in to the head which then cracked the head. Only around the bolt hole, but cracks have a tendency to spread (too far gone to dill it). So.. steer clear of Quill if you can help it.

As a foot note.. Using screws to hold exhausts in to heads is never a good idea. Studs and long brass nuts are the way to do it. :smt002
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

Huh!? who the hell uses screws into heads? Thats the worst and lasiest way to do things and is a recipe for disaster. i'd be spitting nails at 'em

In fairness, it was on a Honda, so it doesnt matter in that particular case :smt002 :smt002 :smt005

Would this be a friend that now has a blue VFR that once took it's former owner to Jersey (before said former VFR owner purchased a grey Falco)

Cheers Dave. Yep, she's fairly happy now - rode pillion from Inverness down to Pitlochry on the way back and declared it comfy! She bailed into the truck for the rest of the trip back to the Hudd 'cos the weather was looking a bit iffy - made the right choice too - it completely emptied it down on me :smt011

Yep, truly awesome roads up there. We actually left from Elgin and went down the Spey valley to the A9 - biking heaven! Just a shame we didn't have the chance to stop at all the distilleries along the way :smt018

Hey Rich, how are you doing? I keep promising myself I'll pop over one weekend for a chat and a catch up -so long as your kettle is still working! Are you getting much riding in? I thought your beemer would have been the height of comfort - I can certainly recommend the Fut from that perspective. Gel saddle maybe? Remember me to Lisa and the kids.
Cheers
Dave

Hey Tweak, managed to get on the PC at home for a change (can't see pics at work). That looks like a fine bike, just ripe for a bit of Tweakers magic.

Glad you've found a good compromise.
