Falco clip ons maybe for sale
I think I have finally got my hands on a set of Falco clip ons, as these seem to be rare as the proverbial, and obscenely expensive from Aprilia, I'm thinking that if they're not too much hassle to make size wise, I may approach a local machining company and have a few sets knocked up.
This of course will only be viable if a few people are after some otherwoise they'll cost as much as the originals.
If anyone is interested give me a shout and if there's enough wanted I'll see how mcuh I can get some made for from billet ali.

I'm looking at something like this with a removeable tube for ease of replacement.
I was thinking of having the tube slide in, then clamping down the end of it with a screw and washer/cap. In order to stop it sliding in I was thinking about tacking a little grub screw in the side, this will mean it will be removeable, but not come out under normal riding (clamping it on the diamter would take up a lot of room).
This is just a quite knock up I did today, the sizes are complete quess work, if anyone would like to help out with offsets/angles etc. I could get on with it further until 1 turns up I can measure.
Any ideas just let me know.

Nice idea, Wayno. I've been looking at altering the bar setup on my Falco for a while now, but I would prefer to reduce the overall width of the bars, as well as providing room for my funky new radial master cylinder.
I tried fiitting the radial m/c on the standard bars, and the bloody thing clouts the fuse box, so I obviously need to relocate a number of key components. I've purchased a set of bars off eBay (that haven't arrived yet, as they're coming from the States), that I'm going to have a play with and see what I can come up with. These are the ones:

Might give you a few ideas...?

I looked at these, but they look the same as the mille ones or the aftermarket renthal ones, which I was told wouldn't fit as they would clout the fuse box.
I've just been looking at some others and I reckon if I change this design I can make them with a small amount of adjustment. I'll do a bit more fiddling with the design, it's not like I'm busy at work so I may as well do this.

interesting , i like the hight of mine but a good replacement in case of an off would be handy ,
what do these or any afermarket bars feel like without the anti-vib thingy in it , i know my right hand goes a wee bit numb after a while caus my replacement hasent not got got them in it , but im sure my last one did and did not have any problems , maybe im just holding on to tight

Is the anti-vibration thing part of the bar end weight? I was hopinh to be able to make them to accept the standard bar ends.joecrx wrote:interesting , i like the hight of mine but a good replacement in case of an off would be handy ,

OK ... an idea to improve on the standard ones.
I've noticed that my heated grips to not warm up evenly. The throttle hand warms up significantly better than the clutch hand .... and I think I know why
The throttle grip fits over the plastic throttle grip tube that rotates on the clipon.
The other side, the grip fits directly on to the metal clipon. I think this acts as a dirty-great heat-sink whereas the throttle side is insulated by the plastic tube.
I'm thinking that if the clutch side clipon bar was made of slightly smaller external diameter tubing (inside would have to be the same diameter for the bar end weights) and a plastic sleeve put round it to bring it up to the normal diameter, it could be a great improvement.
Just a thought.

That's simple enough to do if you step the outside you could use the standard diameter holder and just have a different tube. The problem may come in the inside diameter, depending on what diameter the standard ones are, but if you went smaller to suit the outside you may be too small to take the internal bar end etc.
Once I get a standard one to measure up I'll look into it. If you did this you'd obviously have to superglue the plastic sleeve on, and you would still get different temperatures as the throttle slider has an air gap which acts like double glazing and stops the heat reaching you so muh. I would certainly make them closer to even though.
By the way Joe it's solidworks, we use it at work, unless you know someone who uses it it's bloody expensive.

These guys do what appear to be good quality clip ons for a reasonable price.
They also do different heights for the less flexible.
They're also Italian so there shouldn't be any transplant rejection problems.
