SO .....now for my next question .......has anyone every thought about doing a single sided swingarm mod from a Futura to a Falco and if they have are there any photos anywhere to have a look at it ..........been trying to read up on it but have only found it done to RSV's at the moment and have to say i'm a bit 50 / 50 as to whether it's worth it ......

Too much time on my hands that's the problem ............
Yes - one of the guys on AF1 was planning this and got hold of a swinger and wheel .... but could never get the two apart and the project stalled.

The biggest problem is the speed signal - the Futura takes its signals from a bearing in the rear hub whereas the Falco from the bolts that hold the rear disc. They use a different number of pulses per revolution.

Now although I don't know of anyone who has done this to a Falco, It is basically the same mod on a Mille and I do know of 2 Milles that this has been done to.

If you are serious about this mod, then I'd suggest you get on to there forums (not leaving here - obviously!) and get some advice off of those that have done it.

BTW I think Griff had quite a hand in Supertedlover's bike

Hope this helps.

Thanks D , knew someone would have heard something about it ..........Still can't make my mind up as to whether it's worth all the work as i think the Falco looks best with twin exhausts and not just the one can ........
Got to say superteds bike does look the bollocks though ........very very nice .........

I can see i'm going to have to get my passport and take a trip up NORTH to get all these ideas ............being this far southwest there's not to many Aprilias flying around down here ...........Especially Falcos !! ......my mate does have a 2001 RSVR though so we're the gang so far !!!!!

Just got back from another blast out on the bird and i've just had a good couple of tank slappers ...........hope this isn't a sign of things to come now i've dropped those forks another ring ???? ........................Hopefully just a bit of time t get use to it will do ..... :smt013

get a steering damper off an mille - the ohlins one is the one to get

and why not come to the club aprilia meet - see lots of exhausts there.... and i think i like twin cans - but under the seat so to speak :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Not if you have a Mille swingarm fitted. Then it looks best with no exhaust at all. :smt002

I can see i've still got a long long way to go before i catch you guys up on the modding front .............

Still prefer the twin exhaust but then i don't have an RSVR swinging arm ...........can see what you mean about seeing it though ........
So now i know what i'm aiming for i better start saving ......... :smt003

Ah the OZ wheels .....

I bought a blue pair from Ebay. Got them at a very good price as the front had a hairline crack. I hoped that it might be repairable but I've never found anywhere that could do it safely. No matter - I bought them with my eyes open - the price was not bad for just the rear.
So, I started looking for another front .... this took a while as they are not as common as the rears and tend to cost more (I think they get damaged more often and are more rare)
Anyway, eventually found one at a price I was prepared to pay - and, what's more, it had been sprayed gold - the colour I wanted.

I took them to Phil, my powder coater, to get them both done gold - I'd intended doing them both but Phil suggested just doing the back and see how good a match he could achieve.
TBH they are not quite the same and the quality of the match depends on the light - but I've not yet bothered getting the front powder coated to be an exact match as it's not that bad .... and after all, the looks come second to the function.

All's good, just busy (which is a good thing I guess). Haven't had much time to ride the thing, though... :smt009 Also neglected the winter project - respray. Feeling guilty, planning on exhaust mod as a compensation for her. :smt020

Mines showing 6? is this a bad thing? never tampered with settings before and a bit worried that I will knacker it up. Front end feels a bit 'bouncy for want of a better word. Its got a Penske rear shock.

Are you talking pre load, knob on the top, or forks through yokes?

So some has dropped the yokes down the forks quite a long way. If your Pensk shock has the ride height jacked up then I don't think your cornering clearence angle will not be unduly compromised. I've read that the front mud guard can start touching if hard on the brakes over bumps, if you drop too far but I guess you'd know about that if it happened.

As I said I have 5 rings showing and the rear ride height wound up. I stopped there because I was happy with it. 6 rings would I'm sure feel very similar and I'm not surprised you've not felt the need to change yours.

The number of fork rings displayed shouldn't influence "Bouncy" though, just provides faster turn in and more feed back from the front tyre.
