renegade chips
I am looking around to get hold of a renegade chip to replace my existing af1 chip
seems as if there are different flavours of renegade chips....
so - what are the differences between them all??

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
Salt and vinegar are quite good.
Oh sorry! thought you were on about Rustlers Potato Chips..
I will have a dig about of a few sites, see what gives. I do remember way back in the murky depth there was quite a lot of debate about the Rene chips versus another brand and quite a bit of info posted about them..
And unfortunately I dont have contact with Jorge at the moment, or Alan who used to be Jorge's 'Chip Guru' to glean the info from them.

Had a snoop about, cant find the answers i know are out there.. i think the page i was looking for has been demolished when yahoo changed their geocities a while back.
found a few nice posts in the old Apriliaridersite archive (search powermaster, btw) first about why they didnt sell eprom chips separately
and a good one about why not to bother with a Powercommander if youre running a tuned chip
Not much help i know, but interesting nevertheless

but can you imagine how many people want to buy the eproms? It comes with our goods so if you bought the exhausts you should demand for the Eprom.
The reason we don't sell the Eproms are very simple, we do a product that we can warranty, we can not warranty such product if it fails to work with systems that we are not aware off.

Because we customise our eproms to the various Aprilia engines, the fitting of a PC is not really a necessity with our cans, or airkits, if one is fitted.
The PC is a good tool if no other option is available and is customised to suit the set up, however one must remember that the PC to injection what jets are to carbs.
What I am trying to say is that once it's mapped, it does not change it's parameters. Let me rephrase it, an eprom has a map, such map is set to certain tolerances, picked up by various sensors,IE Temp, air, etc. basically the ECU takes it's reading and adjusts accordingly.
Once a PC is fitted such coordinates are intercepted by the map fitted in the PC. IE, if the eprom says at a point add 10 and the PC has been programmed to add another 10 at that point such 10 will always happen irrelevant of changes. In others words, if the Eprom says in another situation, add 2, the pc still will add another 10, making it 12, where before it added 20.
It's here where the situation can became a problem, just like with jetting, where unless you changed it or in the PC case have a lap top, the mapping is only near perfect at the time of re-map.
Do me a favour guys, don't mess with the trim pots as it can be a nightmare.
Although some of you can not pop in the factory, give me a call if needed and I will do my outmost to help you,

If so, it may have been archived here: http://www.archive.org/

What do you think of the Renegade Eprom???
I had a Renegade +10 fitted to mine, though I have just fitted one of Gabro's eproms to compare.
I brought a Falco that came with Leo vinci cans, Renegade air kit and the Eprom, it had been on Jorges dyno and it pulled so well. However the bike got written off, so I brought another Falco and swapped everything over. However this one has never pulled as good, have made sure it is balanced and the TPS is set correct. I am thinking that maybe part of Jorges setup was to adjust the Trim pots for optimal running and that could be what is missing with the bike.
I brought the Gabro eprom to see if this made any difference, at the mo I cant feel much difference other than there seems to be a hole around 4800rpm, where it seems to pause before pulling. It also seems to be a bit jerky on and off throttle. With the Renegade eprom I had trim pots at 11 oclock and it seemed to run smooth even if it seemed a touch slower the the Jorge adjusted bike. With Gabro I put them at 12 oclock as suggusted on this site. I am thinking of visting my local friendly mechanic and borrowing his CO gastester for a few hours and seeing where both eproms need the trim pots setting.

bearing in mind i have renegade pipes, airbox and chip, the bike is superb :)
I personally think the Tuono/renegade map i am using for my PC3 helps a lot - and having the bike properly mapped will also be excellent

i think it refers to the degree advance on the ignition - +1 +2 etc
am certain others will be along to state the truth soon
oh - one thing that has come to light in my intensive research (Browsing the web while at work) - adjusting the trim pots with renegade chips make s a difference
