light weight rider....

getting close to letting malteaser loose on the falco but, sudden thought

bearing in mind she is about 9 stone in leathers, and with white spring mille shock fitted - are we going to be wise to fit a steering damper ?

would welcome others thoughts as i am being careful....

she already counter steers on her sv....


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Dunno if a steering damper is going to be the main problem, at that weight you might find the suspension too stiff, although if you can get the sag set up with her on it you might be ok

Take a trip down to Stowmarket to MC Technics and get them to set it up for her? Fairly straight run down there so a bit of careful riding until theyve done their magic?

I know them Tim - trouble is they are getting very popular !

Was planning to get griff to do it at aprilia day - am hoping that though taxing from today, to let her loose on the bike over the next few weeks - ie, not many miles at a time....

Yeah I noticed their prices have risen a little, still money well spent.. I assume then it's a case of 'if you can get a slot' !

Im sure she'll be fine mate. There's lots of lightweight chicks racing in Bemsee on powerful bikes and half the time they do it better than the blokes.

She rides an SV, is used to how V Twins bite rather than jumping off an CBR400, let her get on with it, she'll be fine.

Does your concern lie with the bike or the burd or the fact once youre on similar machinery, her power to weight ratio is going to make you have to work to keep up? :smt002 She will be fine just remind her about the shock all the time til its set up. :smt001

Im sure Malteaser will be along shortly to slap you for worrying

roflmao - having to work harder to keep up lol

her falco is fairly stock... so no problems... oh, i may accidentally forget to change rev limiter indicator - wether or not she notices of course...

is about getting the bike set up correctly - i am not a suspension expert lol

I'd doubt very much that a steering damper will be a necessity.

I've just fitted one but not because I felt I had to. Eaven with an arse up nose down set up I was only getting the hint of a shake cornering reasonably aggresively at well over the ??? on very bumpy surface changes.

Getting the sag in range is IMHO is the only prerequisite.

Mind you I'm no "lite weight" any more......

She'll need that before she gets out on the road. smoothes out the power delivery.. you know the judder caused by the fact the tilt switch isnt on the level cos of her being under 11 stone. :smt002

you could probably make that to be honest, rather than buy it..

2 discs under the TBs and the Clip on the throttle cable? I stuck it into Google translate as my German isnt as good as it used to be....

My wife is tiny,sometimes she takes out the falco and her only complaint is being heavy when stationary.
She scares the life out of me when she pulls away but after that she is fine.

I'd tend to think that Jadaris might even need a softer spring installing. Once you've wound preload off to zero, you can't go any further. The same may also be true of the front forks, as ISTR that the Falco has fairly heavy rate fork springs. I know that Race-Tech have a handy calculator that you can use for this on their site, although I've heard some people say that the spring rates that it recommends are still on the firm side.

According to their site, standard fork spring rate is 1.05 kg/mm, and their recommendation for a 125lb rider is approx 0.85 kg/mm. Even that sounds a tad high to me. Their calculator doesn't seem to work for the rear shock, so can't help on that...
