Carb sync...
Hi all,
OK, I am interested in the time scale on this also
How often and how do you know they are out

My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!
The workshop manual tells you to check and adjust if necessary every 12months or 4687miles (ie every service).
The workshop manual also tells you how to do this. Note that few of us have the really early bikes that require the adapters to be put beneath the TBs in order to connect the vacuum lines - most of our bikes have the necessary connection points on the TBs.

Re: Carb sync...
griff new mine were out just by listening, but that comes with experiance.i had noticed that my tick over was sometimes at 500 rpm and other times at 1000rpm which he said was a sign.GregD-UK wrote:Hi all,

Well I didn't manage to get out to take some pictures of the bike but I remembered that the vacuum gauges (carbtune in my case) attach to the same things that you use to get the vacuum control of a scottoiler .... and that there is a picture of that on their website.
In the picture you will see a black plastic boot with a black tube coming out of it - this is the scottoiler vacuum connector. The plastic boot is pushed on to a metal tube that comes out of one of the throttle bodies. This is where you connect one of your vacuum gauges. Obviously if you have a scottoiler fitted, that must be temporarily disconnected.
The other throttle body has a similar tube coming out of it - but on the other side of the bike ... connect another vacuum gauge to this.

If you don't have these tubes coming out of the throttle bodies then you have an old bike and you need the adapters that fit beneath the throttle bodies .... or pick up a set of throttle bodies from a newer bike ......

Yes - tickover won't be as smooth and low (engine) speed running with small throttle openings will be much more lumpy.fastasfcuk wrote:griff new mine were out just by listening, but that comes with experiance.i had noticed that my tick over was sometimes at 500 rpm and other times at 1000rpm which he said was a sign.GregD-UK wrote:Hi all,
