ZX12R Info

#1 Post by aspguitars » Wed Sep 23, 2009 9:45 pm

Hi! all, I am looking to buy a large tourer. Am considering the ZX12R, but after looking at the specs on Motorcycle News, see that the seat height is listed as 843mm. As a short arse this seems quite high. My Aprilia is only 810mm and I can only just touch the ground on that. Can someone please just confirm that this listed height is correct, as I know they frequently make mistakes.
Thanks

I've sat on one (didn't ride it) and it felt very similar to the falco
I too am a shorty (5' 7") and could easily touch the floor
As a guess i'd say they are about the same height

Just been on a website that says seat height is 780mm.
Which possibly seems a bit low if anything, but reckon that's a lot nearer than 843mmm, as it is quite a long low bike.

I'd concur with the 843mm I think. They're huge bikes (i thought about one a few years ago). Saw one the other day for first time in ages and first thought was, that's big!

Hayabusa is long and low. ZX12R isn't I'm afraid.

Yeh but size isn't everything Bigun !!!
I have an old Honda CBR1000F at home that makes a ZX12R look tiny, but the seat height is still around 790mm.

Kawasaki is 820mm high. Lower than my RSV like which is 825mm. My dad is 6ft and struggled with my RSV last week.

Hope it helps.

Of course it's not only the seat height but the width that make a difference to whether a shorty can touch the floor....

The Arrogant Worms would disagree with you on that one.

After all, they have a song with the lyrics "It's not what you do with it, it's the size that counts."
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Width of the seat can often make as much difference as height.
