Just thinking about Firestarter's comments, I reckon Night Rider would be a lot more appropriate the Despatch Rider.
Or even Midnight Rider, yeh the last one sounds best for me.
Can we change it for him, before he gets back on the site?

Kwackerz/Sam? I'd go with Midnight Warrior, meself.HowardQ wrote:Just thinking about Firestarter's comments, I reckon Night Rider would be a lot more appropriate the Despatch Rider.

Good news Dale arrived OK and texted someone else from Cov Bikers (at 2am).
By the way .... if you do want to change his name or title, we tend to call him Gale
Not sure whether it's because he's prone to the wind or is just a big girl .... but it is one of those

i love it so much i think im going to live up to the name and go for a spin if i cant sleep ;) (even though im up for work in 4 hours....lol)
Well, i had planned to set straight for lincoln, but just before midnight a friend turned up on his bike, and accompanied me to the petrol station to get petrol. I then realised that i didnt stand a chance of filling the tyre with air becuse of the placing of the valves and their ridgidness, so went off to another friends to borrow their air compressor.
inflated the tyres, stood around for a bit admiring it and the sound it makes, then off up the m6, onto the m69, m1 and then a46.
the ride was pretty much uneventful, apart from a lorry driver who decided to change lanes without looking in his mirrors (i was about 1/4 of the way through an overtake) and he didnt realise i was there until i found the horn and beeped at him, while at the same time cautiously powering on to take evasive action. he had nicked about half my lane before he realised i was there!
i arrived in lincoln about an hour after setting off, but i wasnt pushing it at all. infact i was changing gear between 6-7k rpm and it was still ripping my arms out of my sockets at that point!
i learned that the bike is very torquey, isnt as easy to stear as the gpz but it is very comfortable. When i got off the bike it felt like i hadnt done anything! o think i could easily spend a day on it without any aches or pains.
The only thing im not so keep on is being able to feel the clutch pulsating when its not in gear! appart from that, i love it and think its a fantastic bike!
will most definately be out over the weekend, learning how to ride it a little quicker!

I was on a suzi 1100 with a 16 inch front wheel before I got the falco and found the turn in to be a bit of an effort. Drop the front a ring or two or raise the rear if you've got a shock that is adjustable and it'll be a lot better. Might take away some of the comfort (more weight on your wrists), but now's not the time. Get a bunch of miles under your belt to get used to it and then start to fiddle, although setting the suspension sag for you would be worth doing right off.Dalemac wrote:isnt as easy to stear as the gpz
ENJOY
well, i couldnt sleep last night, so at 3.20 i popped out on the falco and got back at just gone six, jumped in the shower and now off to work! think im gonna be shattered later! and im supposed to be in town tonight......doh!
I cannot believe this bike. Its insane! ibut at the same time just so easy to ride! i cant find any faults or downsides to it whatsoever!

Yeah - steering was something that I found an issue at first. Understeer was an issue, turn-in was slow and changing lines was a no-no.Dalemac wrote: i learned that the bike is very torquey, isnt as easy to stear as the gpz but it is very comfortable. 1st thing was to get rid of those crappy original fit Mez3 tyres .... you won't have that problem. A set of decent tyres made a big difference.
The next was to get a shock with adjustable ride height and jack up the back - though you could drop the front as has been said (though you will want a decent shock anyway).
That made it acceptable.
Doubt student finances will run to this one, but the lightweight OZ wheels have also made a great difference.
That and the suspension upgrades have made it a bike that responds to thought control.
...... yet even before I did those it was clearly a brilliant bike .... keep enjoying it.

Glad to hear that you may possibly like it!
It's a bike that takes a bit of time to fully get in to tune with, took me something approaching a 1000 miles after a number of Honda IL4s.
Loved it when I first got on but just got even better. I have had mine more than 5 years now and I still get the same feeling. Have had dozens of bikes but none ever got to me like this one, hope you enjoy yours as much.
Have fun this weekend but still take it a bit steady, it's only really starting to pull hard at 6 to 7k, there is still a fair bit more fun to come between here and 10.5k
