including today, about 40 miles and a run to cadwell for bsb thats all i've done since getting the cracked fairing bracket welded. on my way back from newark the mirrors started to shake.yep it's cracked again both sides right alongside the weld.speedaway who supplied the bracket last august through two wheels have offered me a new one at cost,(£115) but why should i.if i'm right my claim is with two wheels who carried out the work, so i'll be giving them a ring in the morning.

Well, I'm guessing that if we were to take a reading from the Frustration Index then we'd be pretty much off-scale.
Sorry to hear about this one Ian.

If you do end up going down the route of getting one made up using Howard's as a template, then consider getting a batch made - people are always after these on one or other of the forums and they are like hen's teeth.

It certainly is, anytime you need it!
I can drop it down for you anytime.
Just don't want to sell it, as I know, as soon as I do, mine will give way after the heavy drop on the RHS when I had the off a couple of years or so ago.

2nd time mine has cracked, different place this time.

quick fix this one but source another unless a group buy somewhere, i be interested.

got a call from two wheels today, aprilia through speedaway say there not prepared to do anything as parts are only under warranty for six months. so it looks like forking out £115 or trying to get one fabricated with proper metal.buying a new one at cost will be cheaper but if it cracks again.

6 months !

That's pathetic! I'm sure that their suppliers will have to warrant their parts for much longer - just to fulfill the warranties on the assembled bikes. Why on earth do we get such shabby service?!

I guess the easiest way is to shell out for one.

The greatest service to the Falco community would be to get hold of Howard's to use as a template and get a batch made - and some drawings so future batches could be knocked out.
Though please don't feel that there's any pressure to do this - do what's best for you.

I would just like to echo what Pete has said, contact Trading Standards, explain the background, and tell them you you believe the goods supplied were not of "merchantable quality" and see what they think.
Not sure how the earlier refusal/repair situation will complicate this case, but worth a try.
If they give you any indication that they think you have a case, you can go back to Two Wheels and/or Speedway and tell them Trading Standards think you have a strong case for the goods not being of Merchantable Quality, and you will progress the case further with them unless they reconsider.
Most companies do not like getting hassle from TS, so may start to bend a bit. They may do nothing, but may make you an offer to cover some if not all of the costs up front. May be worthwhile taking a good offer, if you get one, otherwise it's back to Trading Standards to see how far they will go with it. Has to be worth a try as initially it just costs you the phone call or a trip to town to the local TS office.
Last time I used them for something, they were very helpful to me.
My situation was very different but got me my Alfa 156 it a very silly price.
The car was advertised by a large multi site dealership as reduced in price, but it was at a really silly price and I bought, signed up and paid for it, as it was just a bargain I could not refuse, even though I knew something was wrong with the price, but it HPI'd OK.
They then came back and told me the price was a complete mistake, the girl in the office had seriously cocked up, it should have been £4.5 k more, (but had been advertised this way for over a week). TS told me they had not got a leg to stand on, as it had been advertised on 3 web sites and on the forecourt at that price and I had legally completed the sale, so they could not do a thing.
The company got nastier, saying the price was obviously wrong I had to have known that, then I explained what TS had said and they got a bit nicer, "can we do a deal 50/50" etc, then after a few days it became "would you like to make some sort of a contribution as we are losing a lot of money".
I was almost in tears by this time as I was feeling so guilty

, but I just said sorry no, I bought in good faith. So I ended up with an 8 month old top of the range Alfa 156 for £10.5 K rather than the price it should have been on sale at, £15k, (around £24k new in that spec.!).
I still can't live with the guilt even now, almost 4 years later

Seriously though, I would have been much more likely to have given in to a compromise without TS backing.
Also turned out to be the best car I've ever had !

right ,spoke to tradeing standards yesterday and they told me not to speek to speedaway again as that is an issue between two wheels and speedaway.i,ve got to phone brittany ferries legal department and try and get them on my side to persue two wheels as they paid them to do the work.it does,nt matter that i signed a final settlement with britt ferries.but under the sale of goods act work and parts fitted must be sattisfactory and this can last for six years. fingers crossed.

As I said Ian, they are always worth a phone call, they are a lot better than most people think. Best thing is they have clearly explained the best way to progress it.
Hope it goes well, but there are a lot of parties involved, which always complicates things and still a long way to go, but good luck!
