Futura airbox/boot mod
I've been thinking of ways of improving the 'get up and go'-ness of my Fut. Compared to my previous one, it's a bit sluggish, e.g. on overtakes (but I didn't have that one long enough to discover its innermost secrets). This despite having been very well set up by Griff earlier this year.
I won't be allowed to spend hundreds on e.g. a PC and ensuing set-up.
I'll shortly be switching to a 15-tooth front sprocket (down from 16).
I'd be grateful for the comments of riders of other Aprilia V twins who've gone down the airbox mod route - did it give what you hoped for? Was it worth it?

Rode a bike with nitrous once for no more than 5 miles. Was an experiance i'd never forget!!
EDIT - Do renegade mod, feels alot better in mid range
I got mine from a bloke on www.rsvzone.com

I can only speak for the Falco / Renegade experience but the difference was amazing compared to stock. The Rene airkit is worth fitting for the induction noise aloneMartDude wrote:Are the Evo/Renegade kits significantly better than e.g a Mille airbox and boot?
The airbox itself is always the restricting factor on a Falco and the Mille but the Mille airboot (snorkel) and the Rene airkit will be the best combination for maximum air.
Surprisingly though (and a little off topic) the addition of a Rene airkit to my Tuono has been very dissapointing..... very little induction noise (maybe my ears are just further away with the different riding position) and not the improvement in performance I got with the Falco. I reckon its because the Tuono engine is in a higher state of tune as standard and hence the differences are harder to feel (maybe???)
You'll get a big improvement in the overtaking department just from fitting the 15t front sprocket though

I've spent 50% of my life riding motorcycles, the rest I've wasted!
Thanks. My current thinking is - change the sprocket, fit the Mille boot, perhaps change the filter, go back to Griff's for fuelling setup and see what it's like then, before I incur more black marks from the Financial Controller by investing in a PC.
I was aware that fitting the Staintunes & H-pipe could induce a mid-range flat spot, but I didn't expect the difference would be so marked (fuelling was adjusted & latest Aprilia map installed after exhaust was changed). Or, possibly I've just got used to it after several months, and want a change?
