Change of Title

#1 Post by D-Rider » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:57 pm

I was in Tesco's this lunchtime .... looking at the cheapo close-to-sell-by stuff for my lunch and noticed a new bike mag title.

It seems that TWO has now become Visordown Magazine (wonder whether it has a good TOG rating?)

It'll need more than a change of title to encourage me to buy it. Along with "RIDE" they have to be the worst bike mags I have ever had the misfortune to read

I actually have a subscription to RIDE (via the joys of Tesco clubcards) and I now bin it, often without even flicking through it. It's normally absolute drivel written by "holier than thou" journo's that haven't got a clue. How that Emma Franklin ever got a job as a bike journo I'll never know

I absolutely hate that mag :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Ahhhhhhhhhh deep breaths, thats better, feeling calmer now :smt003

Rant over

You described my thoughts and sentiments exactly, and you have probably expressed what I think far more politely than I would have done. :smt003

Yeah, someone on another forum I used to visit said it should have the title scrambled to DIRE! LOL

Superbike & Fast Bikes piss me off too.

PB and BIKE for me.

I hate TWO, it's put together like one of the cheaper womens' magazines (not that I read those either, life's too short) but changing the title to Visordown doesn't inspire me with any kind of wish to see it!

I'd just like to point out that I didn't actually BUY a copy or even flick through it (it was in a sealed bag anyway) - I just happened to notice it while I was buying MCN ..... oh no, what have I just admitted to - I agree that's crap too but sometimes points to things that you can eventually find a less sensational / factually accurate account of.
Back in the days when we had 2 weekly bike papers I always bought the other one .... till it stopped being printed ............

Bike mags I have regularly are PB and Tansha

Having said all that, the best part about RIDE was Ben Wilkins (Benwah), and he went to Fast Bikes a while ago. He probably holds the record for the longest ownership of a Falco, must be around nine years now, from new sometime in 2000.

I stand corrected Andy, main point was he was the only good thing about RIDE, hence when he left......................... :smt009

Indeed Howard .... though once a year there is something else that's good in RiDE - that's the announcement of the Falco's position in the RiDERPower survey.

Oh yeah, the Falco project - can't wait to see it get a decent bit of coverage and inflate the value of our bikes again!

Falco project?

Are you talking about my Falco in PB? :smt006

If so, there's going to be some bits coming up this winter involving swingarm, bars, bodywork, racing it etc.

I'm feeling excited about the old gal once again!

Good to have you on board Ben. I have to say each month when PB drops through my letter box I eagerly await news of your Falco project, not much has been happening of late, so it's good to hear you have plans for her!!!
