Luggage rack's - what's avaliable?

#1 Post by dyzio » Sun Apr 05, 2009 12:08 pm

Just been browsing th web on what luggage rack's are avaliable for the Falco. I had a small Renntec rack on my SV and it was perfect for carrying a rain suit/tent/sleeping bag when the pillion seat was already loaded/taken.
I found Renntec's web page but it looks like they don't do one for the Falco? http://www.renntec.co.uk/aprilia.html
Any idea will the RSV or other fit the SL?

I also looked at the Ventura, looks v. good but come on... 140 pounds for the sports rack with L brackets? :smt010

Is there anything else avaliable in a reasonable price range?

simple answer no

givi 's universal may fit - but unsure tbh

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I don't have one but I have used this company before and they're very helpful.http://www.motorbikesandparts.co.uk/ Hepco and Becker do a rack for the Falco. I have a pair of BMW R1150GS Givi pannier frames in my garage ready for adapting for the Falco when I find the time.

Yes, the Ventura kit is bloody pricey, but is very versatile. I have used their kit for 4 years now on my Navigator and nothing comes close for ease of use and stability. I have just fitted a kit to my Falco (A right pain if you have high level pipes :smt011 ) ready for Le Mans in two weeks time. The beauty of the system is that if you have the luxury of more than one bike, the luggage is transferable.

Worth it, in my opinion

Givi used to do a Falco-specific rack but that has been discontinued. Occasionally you can pick them up second hand but they don't come up very often ............

(I've got one)

:smt023 For Ventura.

Costly yes. But very versatile & stable. Will take a proper weeks worth of gear.

I've been using it for 4 years also on yearly expeditions to European Moto GPs.

Good kit.

I had the Ventura rack with a top box attached. It lasted 2 weekend trips before one of the rails sheared. I know have the Hepco and Becker with the same box attached and have had no problems. The Ventura rack only attaches to the rails, but the H&B attaches to the pillion grab handles as well as to rails and seems much more rigid and robust.

The Ventura mounting rails fix to the pillion foot rest hanger & also onto a bracket which you have to fit under the pillion seat.
Mine isn't designed to take a top box & has a big sticker saying "Not to be used as a backrest" on it.

It's taken a fully loaded 45ltr bag at 130mph, (Auto Bahn Mr Officer).

You pays yer money .....................
