when ross reached sixteen i was worried sick that he'd come in one day and say he was takeing his cbt. then i went daft when he said he wanted to join the army.when he wanted to start takeing driveing lesson i was so relieved.
how i wish he'd joined the army.
you know we can't wrap them up, and have to let them find there way.
your step son will be fine and happy.

It'd be more of a worry if he was a blood relative with your looney genes. :smt003

I'd just like to echo the excellent advice from Ian.

Two of mine have done theirs (cbt). The eldest is far from a "natural" and maybe I'd prefer he didn't ride - but I can't say to them that they shouldn't do what I do and have loved doing.

I know that some dozy driver may finish me off one day. I know I've some skill and experience that will reduce the probability .... but recent events have demonstrated that I can't protect against every dozy idiot on the road.
So, knowing the risk, I will still ride - because it's what I love to do ... and dealing with risk is an essential part of life and the human spirit (whatever the safety nazzis believe).
If I'm going to ride, I have to allow my kids the same choice - and the same pleasure.

Of course I worry when they are out and the weather's bad or they are late home - the mrs does moreso - but that's for me to deal with and for her to deal with.

...... and face it .... Sam's got a good point!

Just spent an hour trying to write something on this, upshot is we have no control over fate.
Nearly got killed 5 years ago myself got run over by a 4x4 totally my fault , new bike only had it 3 weeks lost control made a right mess of myself off work for 14 months.
During that 14 months the wife was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, during her treatment she had a stroke, and she doesn't drink or smoke.
3 or 4 weeks ago the eldest lads friend died only 18 he fell hit his head on some rocks on the way down and ended up in some water.
We can all worry as much as we like but it doesn't stop things happening, let him enjoy himself !

If you let him do it, he'll respect you for it. If you stop him he'll think you're a double standard spouting fool. The world doesn't need any more 'do as I say not as I do' parents. My Dad gave me that line when I was a teenager and to me at that time it just made him the biggest prick on the planet.

Course she's gonna let him do it!

I'd be freaking too Ligs - watching a baby go out and do dangerous things!

My son-in-law - who turned my daughter into a biker, who I then caught it off, says no way are his children going to ride!

(He might change his mind, there's time, they're only 8 and 3!

You wanna be careful Ligs - I'd say you're in serious danger of growing up!
