Indicators not working
Hi all
I went for a rideout on Sunday, great weather, great roads, no indicators.
Last time out they worked fine but yesterday I had nothing from the get go.
Could it be the relay or does it just control the rate of flashingness.
Dave

Do you have the standard indicators or have you swapped to after-market jobs?
I would start with checking fuses and connections (removed the fairings recently?) and if that seems fine then check the relay and rest of the circuit with a multimeter. The relay is conected in series so if its faulty it could mean you get no indicators working.

Thanks for the replies guys
Just ordinary bog standard items
I know it's not a fuse cos the horn still works (they share a fuse)
It's probably a wiring issue but I have not had time to check yet
I had a wiring prob a few weeks ago that caused the headlight to go out if I straightened the bars, turned out the wire had worn where it was cable tied to the stem.
I'd like to be certain as to the function of the relay though.

As Styltiz said, the relay is in series with the indicators so controls both the flash rate and the switching. If you want to prove the relay, just pull the connector off and put a wire link between the terminals (there's only 2) and see if the indicators come on (obviously, they won't flash). Standard indicators use 10W bulbs instead of the normal 21W so you'll need the Aprilia flasher unit - unless someone knows of an atlernative.
The ride is the reason ........ the destination is just the excuse.
