Scottoilers - where do you put yours?

mmm just had a look at their website.
Can't argue with the value for money. Might get one for my son's CB125.
I still prefer the Scottoiler for my Falco - The Loobman's reservoir does have "colostomy" bottle written all over it (well not in actual writing - obviously) and I think it is probably less flexible in choice of mounting.
The other thing is that the way it works will end up dripping oil if you prime it and then do a short journey. Not a great problem for most but my 3 mile commute each way every day could be a problem.
Then there's the added convenience of the automatic scottoiler.
I'm not saying one does a better job than the other - I think they're probably both good bits of kit - just "horses for courses" and you choose depending on your priorities.

A few years ago a tight mate of mine liked the idea of the Scottoilers I used, but was too mean to part with the folding so got a loobman instead.
The 1st one didn't delivery any oil and was returned. the replacement didn't delivery any oil and was returned. The third one dumped all is oil on in one go. He didn't bother with a fourth attempt. Oddly enough though he still wouldn't stump up for a scottoiler, tight fekker.
At last I've some pictures of how mine is mounted - some pictures with Falco Swingarm, some with Mille Swingarm.

Despite what others say, I really don't thing that it's an eyesore installed to deliver onto the rear sprocket.

I know as well.....

I think any trouble setting up a loobman is due to incompetence.
They are very very basic. Of course it's that simplicity that sets them back against automatic delivery systems but with a bit of extra effort they can work just fine.
I agree with DR that they aren't best suited to regular short journeys - I only fit mine when off on a long trip - quite happy to get down on my hands and knees the rest of the time. This has the added advantage of regular chain condition checks.
As for running costs. Virtually zero as I use old oil.
I'm not trying to recommend any lube system over any other but to judge from the amount of posts on various threads about how to mount / set up / control / afford a Scottoiler that route is hardly plain sailing either.

My comments were based on a very early version of the Loobman. My story took place years ago and I do know that they are much more reliable now.
Still rate the Scottoiler over it though.
I recall that there was another thingie available (years ago again) that was supposed to be mounted on the swingarm and used the jiggling motion to deliver oil. The theory was that it would only spit out oil when the bike was on the move. Unlike the Scottoiler that would still drip while stopped at lights. Anyone remember that one?

Nice fitment Andy.
Will reconsider my fitment if I ever get the mille arm fitted. The sharksfin hides it nicely and means I can get the double dribbler.
The way mine is fitted at the front sprocket drops oil onto the inside of the chain (top of the chain on the bottom run) not the outside as you suppose so it doesn't suffer fly off like you'd imagine, but I can't get a 2nd nozzle to the inner plates.

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
