Another Scottish intro!
Hi. After gleaning as much information as I could from this excellent forum, I've bought myself an 04 Falco in Flamingo(?) red/anthracite(?) and signed up to say hello. I've always wanted an Italian V twin, and until recently presumed that I'd eventually get a Ducati. However, I wanted something reliable and reasonably comfortable for some touring, so the Falco should be ideal. I have a Triumph Sprint RS 955 which I love and don't really want to sell, so after considering trading it for a Sprint 1050, decided to treat myself to a second bike instead. I'm not sure that my wife fully understands this strategy but I have agreed to "consider" selling one of them in the summer. It may take a long time to decide which one I want to keep! Anyway, that's enough of an intro from yet another newb, and thanks to all for the information posted here.
Hello dere, velcome to de forum! Hmmm, a difficult choice awaits you then.

Hi Dusty and welcome.
Our Scottish contingent is really growing - maybe that will help us to get round to meeting up in Scotland to enjoy some of the great roads and scenery up there.
I can see that the decision on which bike to keep will be long and drawn out - necessitating many second opinions and reassessments - could go on for years
So, this Flamingo of yours, is it a rare standard beast or, if not, what mods have been done?

Crivvens! The Jocks are massing North of the border.
Is this some sort of masterplan to get revenge for..................... well, everything the English have done to them?
And where are all these Falcos coming from - Anyone know how many were actually sold in the UK?
Oh and Welcome to the forum. Don't listen to everything you hear re. upgrades or you'll soon be v.poor.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. The bike is 100% standard, which I suppose makes it pretty rare on this forum! Although I like the colour, I have to admit that the black and the black/silver combination that yostwerks has, are absolutely gorgeous.
The sidestand has got to be the first mod; it's making me nervous already.
After that, I plan to ride it for a while before I change much. I have hard luggage for the Triumph so I'll probably find a way to fit that. A pair of Beowulf cans would be nice...no, you're not drawing me in, guys. The credit card is safely tucked up in the wallet.
One thing I do need to sort out is the seat fixing. Does anyone use anything that's easier and quicker than the standard bolt arrangement?

Hi Dusty, I'm a tad interested in your purchase as I went up to Dunfermline via Edinburgh in July to pay for an '04 Falco in Flamingo Red/Anthracite bought on eBay, and the guy basically stiffed me and sold it to someone else. As it happened, the guy did me a favour because I found that rarest of things, a brand new Falco in the same colours, with the help of the splendid chaps on this forum a month or so later.
Where did you get it from and what sort of mileage has it got? There can't be too many Falcos in Scotland, can there? (Although I'm not so sure, given recent history...)
Anyway Dusty, welcome to the forum - they'll spend your money like water given half a chance, but I've learned more on this forum in a few months about Falcos than I could have done in a lifetime on my own. The word 'community' is over-used on the 'net, but it's the real thing here.
The sidestand has to be your first consideration; after that the world is your whelk! I'd also recommend replacing the standard shock, but that isn't quite as pressing a concern as the sidestand.
