Renegade performance chip

#1 Post by mangocrazy » Sat Nov 22, 2008 6:58 pm

I was trawling through eBay (as you do) and I found a Renegade chip for an '02 RSV Mille languishing around for not a lot of money. I stuck a fairly derisory bid in and wound up getting it for the princely sum of £6.55 including postage. According to the listing its a CCL/CPB/B1 code chip.

Does this mean anything to anyone? It's intended use is for my Falco when I get round to sticking some (ahem) free-flowing cans on it. At the price I got it for I couldn't really go wrong, I thought. Anyone know if this will work on a Falco?

It should.

I happen to know a man who should be able to properly advise you..

Give me a few days, see if I can get hold of him.

Glad you mentioned that, I bought one cheap at the beginning of the year, when the weather wasn't too good.
Thought I'd leave it until the summer so I could use the performance and test it thoroughly.
Read your post and just got it out of a drawer!

SNAP - Renegade CCL/CPB/B1 plus 10 chip.

Suppose I should leave it until spring now. :smt017 :smt009 :smt017

It's designed to work with the full Renegade kit, i.e. Rene air box and race cans.
At the moment mine has Beowulf Race cans and a K&N kit, so plan to try it with that.
Let me know how you go on if you fit yours first.

Cheers Howard. Mine's unlikely to be tested very soon as the bike's currently up on stilts with its forks out, getting ready to get them revalved and resprung. I'll be looking at aftermarket cans when I go to the bike show this coming Friday, although I doubt I'll be buying them until the new year (pre-Crimbo skint syndrome).

So it seems that I have to get a Rene airbox to get full value out of my cheap eBay purchase, then? What a shame... Looks like I'd better get saving for that, as well. Can't let a bargain go to waste, can we? :smt003

Mango, has yours got any other references, ie: +5, + 10?

Mine has just the part number on the static bag.
On the chip itself it says -
Renegade
Aprilia +10

Haven't actually got the chip yet, but the photo on the eBay site says Aprilia Renegade +10. Another photo shows the part number I quoted earlier on a plastic bag. Sounds identical to yours, Howard.

I'm guessing +10 is +10% on the fuelling? (And -10% on the mpg...)

or +10 hp.....

i think an evo kit may be a suitable replacement for a rene air kit.... - or you could make your own.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

The throttle works both ways... :smt002

If you fit an airkit and cans you will find yourself filling up more often.. The sound is somewhat addictive.. :smt005

It's inevitable I'm going to go down that route, really. There's not even any point trying to fight it. So I won't! :smt003

Talking of which, has anybody heard anything about this airkit?

It's a pity Jorge (Renemaster) isnt operating out of West Kingsdown any more. The sounds that used to come out of the Dyno room were worth a ride down from the other end of the Country, even just to 'experience' the work being done to someone else's bike made it worth a trip.
Many a happy day sat fettling bikes then putting them thru the Dyno.. :smt001

Naturally Im completely biased towards the Rene stuff, but I know the experience was often found to be somewhat similar elsewhere :smt002

Nice variation on the Plate kit, but looks expensive for what it is. (retaining the airbox lower)

Yes, it's very sad what has happened to Rene/Jorge. I was looking forward to visiting the Rene dyno, but it won't happen now, I guess.
